The Marvel Cinematic Universe Crosses $14 Billion at the Box Office

Ever since Marvel’s The Avengers, Marvel Studios has enjoyed a meteoric level of success, both in the critical and financial departments.  With the release of Black Panther, the train doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.

Panther has accumulated a 500 million dollar gross, which now puts the Marvel Cinematic Universe at $14 billion overall. The trend looks to continue when Avengers: Infinity War debuts in May.

The MCU has left all other franchises in the dust with the second highest grossing franchise (Star Wars) just breaking $9 billion.  The franchise currently sits at 18 films over the course of 10 years, with much more still to come; it isn’t likely to be dethroned any time soon.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4th, and is seen as a culmination of everything Marvel Studios has put out in the last ten years… pitting The Avengers (with lots of newcomers) up against the Mad Titan… Thanos. With the recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s assets, Marvel will have characters like X-Men, Deadpool, and the Fantastic Four to play with in the next decade of Marvel films.
