As with any FromSoftware game, the world of Elden Ring is vast, beautiful, and fraught with danger. From the studio that brought us a game with the tagline “Prepare to Die,” there are several ways by which the player can meet their end, and some are more surprising than others!
The long line of creative takedowns from enemies in the game has spanned across FromSoftware titles, and Elden Ring is carrying forward that tradition. Even two years after its release, some players have not experienced everything Elden Ring has to offer.
The Snails in Elden Ring Like to Get Up Close and Personal
No FromSoftware experience is complete without screaming “Since when can it do that?!” at the screen as your character is being drained of its life force. Hidetaka Miyazaki has a way of surprising even FromSoftware veterans with his inclusions.
He’s done the same with the unassuming Snails in Elden Ring. These snake-like snails are of various types in the game, each with their own attacks. Crystal Snails can shoot small glintstone-like projectiles, while Skeletal Snails can summon floating skulls that track the player.
The Lesser Spiritcaller Snail adopts a different method of attack. As the name suggests, this enemy can summon shades to fight on its behalf. These summons can be brought back to the field upon defeat. The only way to deal with them permanently is to take out the Snail itself, which is a fairly easy task. It’s due to how easy it is to take down that very few people have experienced its grab attack.
That’s right, this snail can latch onto you and inflict a fair bit of damage by burrowing its face into yours! Most people would not experience this, as it takes only a couple of hits to dispatch the snail. That’s why one X user commented under a short clip showcasing this attack that they have not seen this move even after spending 500 hours in the game!
Get Ready For More Surprises in Shadow of the Erdtree
As one of FromSoftware’s largest expansions, Shadow of the Erdtree is bringing a bunch of new enemies to Elden Ring. The Land of Shadow will feature a unique set of foes and have unique weapons that will allow you to switch up your combat style. The DLC is set to drop in less than 10 days, and the hype is already at fever pitch.
With the size of the expansion surpassing that of the entire game of Sekiro, fans are already saying the expansion should be in the running for Game of the Year. It’s not without competition, though. Black Myth: Wukong will be released in August, and the game has already climbed the Steam charts to become the #1 pre-ordered title.
Shadow of the Erdtree is closer to release, and we can expect new lore regarding not only the land but also several characters from the base game. Along with Miquella, we are also going to learn more about the history of Queen Marika as well as the new antagonist, Messmer.
