Alan Wake 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Alan Wake, was one of the most popular and successful titles of last year. The fans loved the game, but many were disappointed with the game’s digital only release.
The developer recently announced the physical release of the game, but it seems like all won’t be able to get their hands on it. This is after the game’s composer, Petri Alanko, said that he is unable to get a Collector’s Edition.
Getting an Alan Wake 2 Collector’s Edition Won’t Be Easy

Alan Wake 2 garnered positive reactions from fans and critics alike and also secured several awards, including Best Game Direction and Best Art Direction at The Game Awards. It also grabbed the BAFTA Award for Audio Achievement.
After a long wait, fans got to hear from Sam Lake that the game is finally getting a physical release with two editions, the Deluxe Edition and the Limited Collector’s Edition. However, the Collector’s Edition would be hard for any player to get if Petri Alanko can’t get it.
I just heard I cannot get an Alan Wake 2 Collector’s Edition for many, many, many reasons.

There’s no emoji for this. Not even a gif. The only suitable jpeg I found would end my twitter presence in a minute.
Legislative issues, I was told. @alanwake @remedygames
Alanko shared that he is unable to get the Collector’s Edition for “many, many, many reasons.” He said that the main reason given was “Legislative issues.” Now, it may seem like a genuine reason, but considering that he is the composer of the game, it’s saddening to hear he may miss out on it.
Ihan siis laki- ja verosyistä, ei siinä sen enempää. Ei siis liity Remedyyn.

Several fans replied to Alanko’s post, saying that they are disappointed to know this. Some also were surprised that he may not get the Collector’s Edition of the game he has worked on. In reply to one user, Alanko said this is not related to the developer but is solely because of legal and tax reasons.

Remedy announced the physical release of the game at Summer Game Fest 2024, alongside the announcement of the DLC. This excited many fans, as the physical release also has the Collector’s Edition with exclusive goodies for hard-core fans of the game.
The Collector’s Edition is sold by Limited Run Games and will retail at $199.99. It contains all the content of the Deluxe Edition, including the Expansion Pass for both expansions, Night Springs and The Lake House, Alan Wake Remastered in-game content such as unique character skins, and a Lantern Charm for Saga Anderson.
It also comes with a reversible cover sleeve featuring exclusive artwork. The Collector’s Edition will have exciting goodies including a functional Alan Wake’s Angel Lamp replica, Coffee World Pin Set & Ocean View Hotel Keychain, Artbook, and custom-designed Collector’s Box.
Seeing all these contents, it is understandable why fans would want to get this. However, it may be hard to get if they face issues that Alanko faces. What are your thoughts about this? Let us know in the comments.
