Well, the movie was indeed terrible despite a strong cast and fans were indeed aware of the reviews and feedback. Despite all of this, Jennifer Lopez was paid an astonishing amount to star in the film and although Atlas was considered a failure, Netflix benefitted from it greatly!

There were countless reasons for the 2024 Netflix film to succeed. From having a stellar cast of actors like Jennifer Lopez, Simu Liu, and, Mark Strong to having Brad Peyton (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) as director, the film had only one reason to fail.
With negative reviews about the alleged overacting of Jennifer Lopez, fans complained that the entirety of the movie consisted of Lopez grimacing and whining in pain. The film was ruined by the fact that Lopez allegedly acted terribly in the film.
Despite the criticism that she faced, Lopez and Netflix’s deal made the actress more rich indeed! As per a report by Puck, the actress was reportedly paid a whopping $16.5M to portray the lead role of Atlash Shepherd in the 2024 film!
However, the report doesn’t stop there. Remember when we talked about negative marketing earlier? Well, turns out the film was so terrible that people complained and talked about the film quite a lot on the internet! This resulted in Netflix getting incredible amounts of viewership despite releasing a terrible film!

The statement rings true for the world and especially for Netflix’s 2024 film Atlas as the film managed to hold a position that many great films weren’t able to! As per the report by Puck, Atlas has been in the top 10 most-watched films on the platform for the past three weeks!
This comes after the fact that terrible reviews and negative feedback had made their way onto the internet. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), some fans were left incredulous as to how this film managed to stay on top despite being terrible. Others talked about the effectiveness of bad publicity.
