Helldivers 2 has already won the hearts of many players. However, despite having extremely interesting co-op multiplayer gameplay, fans have their own separate demands. We already know the game has been hugely inspired by Paul Verhoeven’s cult classic movie, Starship Troopers, originally based on the Robert Heinlein novel.

Now, fans are demanding that this Arrowhead Games Studios title take inspiration from another cult classic science fiction movie that was released a long time ago.

Helldivers 2 Should Draw Inspiration from Pitch Black

Recently, in a Reddit post, a fan shared his wish for Helldivers 2, taking inspiration from a famous 2000 movie, Pitch Black. This was an American science fiction horror film starring popular faces like Vin Diesel, Radha Mitchel, and many more. This game has uncanny similarities with Starship Troopers too, but now a game from this famous franchise might beat the Arrowhead co-op title.

Coming back to the post, the fan has suggested that Arrowhead Games should incorporate the idea of the movie into its sci-fi game. According to him, it would be cool if all the in-game fights happened in a pure dark environment without any light source apart from weapons, fire, and lighting in outpost buildings.

He has also stated it would be really different and exciting when you are “walking through the dark when you stumble upon a bunch of floating read-bot eyes in the distance.” Taking fights in absolute darkness and spotting the enemies through the gunshots is going to be an absolute gem of an environment if Arrowhead ever pays heed to this request.

In the comment box of the Reddit post, another fan has speculated on an interesting fact. If the game ever builds an environment like Pitch Black, then they can incorporate some night vision goggles into the helmets of the players.

This would make it easy for them to navigate and fight in absolutely dark environments. And Arrowhead has recently talked about helmet and visor bonuses. So, it would be great if both the ideas of pitch black and night vision got implemented.

Another Reddit post has sparked excitement regarding incorporating night vision into helmets. This post shows some statements from the creative director of the game, Johan Pilesdt, on the official Discord server.

Helmets originally had unique features

Here, Pilesdt revealed that initially, the helmets had unique HUDs. For example, the helmets of the medics would show health, and the recons were able to get enemy outlines on their helmets. But due to the shipping of the game, they had to cut down on this feature.

So, it wouldn’t be absolutely surprising if Arrowhead Game Studios again brings back some unique features in the helmet, like special abilities or what may be a night vision goggle. And it would be handy in the pitch-dark environment as well if Helldivers 2 ever takes some inspiration from Pitch Black.
