In recent months, new images from Deadpool & Wolverine have continued to drop, revealing several tidbits about the film, including its potential plot. Director Shawn Levy and lead stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have been tight-lipped about the various reveals in the film. The promotional materials themselves have mostly been recycled clips from the trailer.

The film is set to feature several Marvel cameos that the studio has managed to hide from the audiences so far. Total Film recently released three new stills from the film, and one of them has caught the attention of fans (via GamesRadar). This particular image includes a person who resembles Blade, but it’s not played by Wesley Snipes, who played the character in three Blade films.

Reynolds starred alongside Snipes in 2004’s Blade: Trinity. The film is infamous for its tough production due to Snipes being difficult to work with and how Reynolds had to step up due to his absence. The Deadpool actor did not even meet the real Snipes as he was in character for the whole production. On X, fans called the potential Blade in the image to be a CW version of Snipes’ Blade. Here are some of the reactions,

As some fans have speculated, this potential Blade may be from the relatively unknown Blade series, which starred Kirk Jones, aka Sticky Fingaz as Blade. It could also just be a random henchman, and fans may be overthinking about the person in the image. It remains to be seen if a variant of Blade shows up when Deadpool & Wolverine releases in July.

Shawn Levy is gearing up for the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. The film is the only theatrical MCU film this year, and there is a lot of hype and anticipation for it. In an interview with Deadline, the filmmaker was asked if the studio had already started thinking about a follow-up 4th film. Levy revealed that Deadpool & Wolverine was the most creatively fulfilling film he’d ever done.

As for the question, while he had to lie about questions for Deadpool & Wolverine, Levy stated that he sincerely does not know anything about that particular question. With Deadpool being a character that does not fall in the typical superhero treatment, the director claimed that anything is possible with the character. Levy said,

Usually, I have to lie. I’m waiting for the questions when I have to lie and pretend I don’t know the answer, but this one I can sincerely say I don’t know. But I can, in the same breath, say, ‘Man, this thing has been the hardest, most all-consuming thing I’ve ever done. But it’s also been the most creatively gratifying.’ Because with Deadpool, there’s no rules. It is, in its very DNA, built on tonal audacity. So, for a filmmaker, what a delight.

If Deadpool & Wolverine emerges as a big hit, there will definitely be conversations about bringing the two in future films. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman return in their iconic Marvel characters in Deadpool & Wolverine alongside Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.

The film hits theatres on July 26, 2024.
