Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is an upcoming first-person shooter game developed by Treyarch and Raven Software. It is one of the most anticipated games of this year, and it is the seventh edition in the Black Ops series following Cold War. Call of Duty has been people’s favorite franchise for decades and Black Ops managed to garner the same respect as its predecessors due to its raw and indulgent lore.
However, recent revelations revolving around one major story moment have left a lot of fans puzzled. Black Ops 6 has a direct link with Black Ops 2, and there has been a major connection drawn between the two that has made fans more confused than ever, and the same has been confirmed by a Treyarch director.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Drops a Big Bomb Casually
Black Ops 6’s campaign is one of the most anticipated in the franchise’s history, as previous teasers and Easter eggs have revealed the return of familiar Black Ops soldiers, namely, Frank Woods and Russell Adler. These two veterans are set to return with full force in the campaign mode of the new game.
Following the rising anticipation, Treyarch’s associate creative director, Miles Leslie, casually confirmed that Alex Mason is dead in Black Ops 6. Alex Mason is a CIA captain who served as the protagonist of Black Ops and returned as a deuteragonist in the sequel.

Black Ops is famous for having multiple endings, and in one such ending in Black Ops 2, Frank Wood is tricked by Menendez to kill Mason. However, according to other endings, Mason is supposed to have been in hiding for the last 36 years, but Black Ops 6 follows the story arc in which he is dead, killed with deceit by his friend Frank Woods.
Frank Woods is set to return even after retiring, as the game’s campaign could serve as a redemption arc for him to avenge his friend’s death, which is his biggest motivation. If this is true, then killing Mason would still make sense.
The Upcoming Game is Coming in With a Lot of Promise
The game is set to release on October 24, 2024, and is sure to open to big numbers following the rising anticipation, especially after the announcement of Mason’s death. However, the confusion surrounding Mason’s death will be there until players get an actual taste of the campaign, as some answers can only be revealed while playing the game.
It will be exciting to see names like Woods and Adler make their way back into the game and give a taste of their veteran experience, which is bound to find a way into the gameplay.
