Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is gearing up to be the next big game within the franchise, and as it nears its release date, expectations for the title are going through the roof. Like any game before it, though, it is having a tough time getting fans on board with its promises.

At the moment, and as expected from a Black Ops title, all eyes seem stuck on the upcoming game’s Zombies mode. Unfortunately, Treyarch claims that the game will feature one of the best Zombies modes yet, which is making some gamers doubtful when it comes to the developer’s capabilities.

Call of Duty Fans Continue to Remain Cynical of Black Ops 6 Zombies

From the introduction of Omnimovement to featuring what looks to be one of the grittier and action-heavy Call of Duty campaigns, it feels as though Treyarch and Activision are genuinely trying hard to move past the failures of the franchise’s recent entries.

However, despite the claim that Treyarch has made the best version of round-based zombies with Black Ops 6, gamers on the internet seem rather skeptical. Some of that stems from the disappointment of Cold War Zombies and its underbaked systems:

On the other hand, some remain unhappy with the online-only mandate for the game mode:

But perhaps the biggest hurdle for Treyarch to overcome is the cynicism cultivated by the franchise’s fans over the years:

At the end of the day, it is still too early to make any judgment calls on what Treyarch has cooked up, and it may be for the best to take its word for it and wait until the final product is in hand.

The Call of Duty Devs Are Clearly Feeling the Pressure

It comes as no surprise that Treyarch and the rest of the development team are always under the most pressure when creating another entry in the franchise’s most popular sub-series.

Despite all the devs tried to accomplish with Cold War, the entry ultimately suffered a myriad of issues. Thanks to the pandemic, the developers couldn’t realize their true vision for the game, and players were at least understanding.

Now, however, things are much different. Not only does Black Ops 6 need to be a proper success for Activision and Microsoft, but it also carries the task of pretty much resurrecting the franchise after the highly criticized release of 2023’s Modern Warfare 3.

So, it will certainly be interesting to see whether the devs can handle what’s coming and make Black Ops 6 worth it for fans. From what we’ve seen so far, they might just make it.

But with that said, what are your thoughts on the game’s Zombies mode so far? In what ways will it differ from what we have seen in Cold War? Let us know in the comments below.
