The finale episodes of Young Sheldon were critically acclaimed as they beautifully connected the prequel series to the original, The Big Bang Theory. Fans saw Iain Armitage‘s Sheldon stepping foot on to the Caltech University in the final moments of the series.

The prequel series also brought back Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik in the roles of adult Sheldon and Amy. Fans were overwhelmed by all the references to the 2007 series (even though one Young Sheldon theory suggested bad news for TBBT‘s Leonard), that they wanted a reunion badly.

However, it is not a question of whether Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Halberg, and others would even return for the reunion. Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady answered the question about a TBBT reunion when they appeared for an interview with EW.

Prady shared that it was hard to imagine what happened to the characters after the “most beautiful and satisfying [finale] episode”. Lorre believed that they didn’t leave anything undone in the series and that it was as close to a perfect finale. Prady shared that while he personally wanted to go back to Stage 25, he didn’t know how to proceed with a reunion story. Prady told EW:

But would I like to stand on a stage someplace and watch those characters again? Yes, absolutely. Can I imagine a way to do it? I can’t. But, personally, would l like to go to Stage 25 and see that set and those costumes and those people? Yeah, I get choked up just thinking about it. But I don’t know how we’d do that.

When The Big Bang Theory concluded in 2019, it had won several awards. Jim Parsons, who played the fan-favorite Sheldon Cooper, won four Outstanding Lead Actor Emmys for the series.

Bill Prady and Chuck Lorre Could Totally Imagine Sheldon Schooling Others During The Pandemic

While Bill Prady and Chuck Lorre had little idea about a reunion episode, they could totally imagine bits and pieces of the character’s lives during the pandemic. Lorre was pretty sure that Sheldon would’ve loved the pandemic since it meant he could sit at home and not deal with the world.

Prady shared that Sheldon would’ve schooled anyone about his knowledge of germs. Though the little friends’ group had an in-house microbiologist, Bernadette, Prady believed that Sheldon would still get into arguments with her. He shared:

And he would have loved it because people would have had to listen to him because he’s a person who knows about germs… and all of the sudden, the focus of the entire world is on people who know things like that.
But, also, Bernadette [Melissa Rauch] is a microbiologist and works with people who probably know things, so I can imagine she and Sheldon would probably argue about that. I can already hear her scream, ‘Don’t tell me about my job!’

While fans are disappointed about the unlikeliness of a reunion, the universe of TBBT expands with Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage. The series focuses on Montana Jordan and Emily Osment’s characters from Young Sheldon.

The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon are now available for streaming on Netflix.
