Players were excited with the news that the map would join the rotation soon, but the happiness has been short-lived for many as there are reports that it will arrive with several changes. Fans are appalled by this and are out in full force, asking Activision not to ruin the popular map.

Activision released a trailer to announce the return of the map, and the reception of the trailer has been mostly positive, but players have noticed that there are a few changes to it, including the removal of a POI, and fans are furious.

From what’s seen in the trailer, players think that the prison POI on the map has been destroyed. It seems like the roof of the prison and the lighthouse on the island have been destroyed, and the POI now has wreckage and open walls. This is yet another change after developers decided to change Fortune’s Keep when it returned to multiplayer.

Players have reacted to this aggressively, with one fan saying, “People asked for Rebirth Island, not changes to Rebirth Island.” Some fans have also alleged that the swimming mechanics, which are now a big part of the multiplayer experience, will be integrated into the map, as they have seen swimming in underwater tunnels, which hint at underwater combat.

Moreover, it is also said that the weapons coming in Season 3 are the ones in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and the trailer seemingly confirms one.

Developers Speak on the Rumored Map Changes

Raven Software has said that the map will have the same experience.

Many have also defended the changes, saying that the map is small and there have to be changes, but the majority of the players are unhappy with this. This row on the map has made Raven take cognizance, and it has responded to the fans over their queries and complaints.

Following the row over map changes, Raven Software took to X and said that it “sees” the questions about the trailer. It said that although several “gameplay updates and visual polish” have been made to the map, it will remain “true to the original experience.”

It added that the destroyed POI would be caused by dynamic events at the start of the match, and players would encounter Infil Strikes. It also mentioned that most of the matches will remain unaffected by the Infil strikes; the strikes will provide “a rare yet unique spin” to map rotation and “traversal opportunities” for the players, making the experience more exciting.

Fans have accepted the developer’s words for now, but it remains to be seen if there’s an uproar after the arrival of the map. Are you looking forward to the return of Rebirth Island? Let us know in the comments.
