Daniel Radcliffe Wants The Harry Potter Series To Have Its Own Legacy

Even since it was announced that the cult Harry Potter films will be rebooted into a new HBO series, fans have been wondering about the possibility of seeing many of the old cast members appear in the show. While it is obvious that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint cannot play the main protagonists due to their current age, the chances of them doing other adult roles can still be a reality.

But Radcliffe in an interview with Comic Book in 2023, squashed these speculations once and for all when he stated that the the series would follow a brand new direction in every aspect, from the casting choices to the production, and added that he was totally in line with this thinking.

Though he had revealed a decade ago that he might have been interested in a potential role, the actor later confirmed otherwise, and believed that this was the right path to take for the newly-minted series.

My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere. So I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way.

The British star was gracious in his wishes for the series and the new ensemble cast who would once again bring this iconic narrative to life. He believed that like everything in life, the Harry Potter baton must be passed on, but should be done by carving its own unique path.
