Despite its R-rating, the film is expected to have a big opening weekend domestically compared to other R-rated films. While it may beat Multiverse of Madness‘s opening collection, it is unlikely to cross No Way Home‘s behemoth opening weekend collection as well as its total gross worldwide.

Deadpool & Wolverine Will Most Likely Fall Behind Spider: Man No Way Home‘s Collections

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman‘s Deadpool & Wolverine continue to entertain audiences with wild cameos and multiversal adventures that the titular characters go through. The film will surely have a big opening weekend collection the question has been how big it can become. Deadline is reporting a $180 million plus opening weekend collection while Deadpool Updates (via X) expects a $200 million opening collection.

As big as it can become, it is unlikely to beat Spider-Man: No Way Home. The similar multiverse film grossed a whopping $260 million in its opening weekend (via Deadline) and earned 1.9 billion by the end of its theatrical run (via Box Office Mojo). Deadpool & Wolverine has many factors that limit it from beating Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s collection.

The most significant one is that unlike No Way Home, Deadpool & Wolverine is an R-rated film, which will significantly decrease its amount of viewership. No R-rated film has even reached the $150 million mark in its opening weekend in history. While it will surely reach that milestone, reaching $260 million will most likely not happen.

Additionally, it will not likely beat No Way Home‘s total worldwide collection of 1.9 billion. 2019’s Joker is the only R-rated film in history to pass the $1 billion mark. While Deadpool & Wolverine might reach $1 billion, grossing $1.9 billion may be out of the question.

One Marvel Star Believes That Only Ryan Reynolds Could Have Convinced Him For Deadpool Cameo

Deadpool & Wolverine featured some wild cameos with some of them being legit supporting characters throughout the film. One of them was the return of a Marvel star in one of his iconic roles that one might not have expected. His hilarious extended cameo proved to be one of the highlights of the film.

The cameo referred to here is by Chris Evans, not as Captain America, but as the Human Torch. The actor had played the character in the 2000s Fantastic Four films. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Evans revealed that he was so excited when he got the call from Ryan Reynolds about reprising the iconic role. He states that only Reynolds could have convinced him of that unexpected return. The Captain America star said,

I was so excited. Ryan’s a buddy. He just shot me a text saying, ‘Listen, might be a long shot, but would you have any interest in reprising something from 20 years ago?’ I said, ‘Oh my God! Of course’. Honestly, Ryan might be the only guy that I would’ve done it for because he’s just got the Midas touch. His self-awareness makes him almost invincible.

It was great to see Evans as the character with all the comedic touch to it being in a Deadpool film. His dynamic with Reynolds in the film led to some hilarious gags with outrageous dialogues. In addition to Evans, the film saw the return of Jennifer Garner, Dafne Keen, and Wesley Snipes reprising their iconic Marvel characters. Deadpool & Wolverine is playing in theaters everywhere.
