Eric Kripke’s The Boys – with its pernicious heroes against an ironic backdrop of politics and pop culture – is proving to be one of the most seminal superhero shows with its fourth and latest season leaving viewers thoroughly nonplussed. From the horrifyingly gory Homelander scenes to the immaculately executed dark humor, the series is perhaps the most hailed black comedy today.

Hats off to The Boys‘ marketing team, though, for its brand-new pyramid scheme that doubles as a spectacular punchline that fans of the show almost instantly spotted.

The Boys‘ Genius Pyramid Scheme is Jam-Packed With Satire

If you’re an avid fan of the superhero show, you’d know all the inside jokes and juicy tidbits related to the characters, like Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) and her perennial stress-induced hair-pulling. A Vought publicist-turned-CEO, Ashley – like any other Vought employee – is inherently antagonistic and believed to suffer from a case of Trichotillomania so severe, that she ends up pulling whole tufts of hair from her scalp at times.

In a masterstroke of satire, The Boys is promoting Voughtality, a brand of beauty products made by Vought International in the show with Minifie’s character lobbying for hair conditioners and skincare as a “shampoo enthusiast.” Wait till you see the whole commercial-esque setup on YouTube.

Does your day job want to make you pull your hair out? Do you want to make more money and look like a queen while doing it? Step into the spotlight with a new line of products from Voughtality. Our conditioners will have your hair feeling strong, shiny, and empowered.

They definitely deserve a raise for this.

Colby Minifie’s Brilliant Reason Why Ashley Doesn’t Leave Vought

While the lust for money and power is tantalizing enough for Ashley to not forsake her cushiony corporate job at Vought, it’s not the only reason. In a recent interview with ComicBookMovie.com, Minifie, 32, remarked how the driving factor behind her character’s decision to continue working at an otherwise odious company is sheer self-preservation.

I think there are many reasons to stay at Vought, but one of them is that if she were to leave, she knows too much, she’d probably die. Homelander would probably find her immediately and kill her in a horrible way […] So, I think, initially, she was really excited about that and, of course, as the spiral of what she’s been exposed to has gotten deeper and darker, so has the pressure to stay, because the more likely it is she’ll get killed.

But the Marvel’s Jessica Jones star also admitted that greed did indeed play a colossal role in Ashley not wanting to bid farewell to the company which happens to be a breeding ground for evil superheroes in the show (quite literally).

The Boys season 4 is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
