Zack Snyder has always managed to polarize viewers with his projects. He did it when he was at the helm of the DCEU, with some of his choices deemed a little scandalous. On the flip side, Snyder has garnered a massive fanbase, by primarily adapting comics into action films that satisfy the so-called ‘fanboys.’

The director’s new film, Rebel Moon- Part Two: The Scargiver, tells a very similar tale. While the second installment of the franchise has been panned by critics, the audience feels very differently about it. A few even believe that it might be better than Dune 2, the biggest hit of the year.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon- Part Two: The Scargiver has been severely criticized

Zack Snyder has an incredible ability to build up his stories. While it might seem exhausting to many, the director is meticulous in his approach, and he has been lauded for it too. He tried to do it with the Rebel Moon series, and while the films have their moments, some might deem them unwatchable.

The films narrate an interplanetary saga, with Snyder taking inspiration from Star Wars and Seven Samurai. The second installment in the series picks up from where the first film ended, and it is even more explosive.

The plot revolves around the Motherworld threatening the people living on the moon of Veldt. Kora, played by Sofia Boutella, manages to convince the farmers to pick up arms against the imperial army. The rag-tag team of recruits managed to defeat Atticus Noble, the chief villain, in the first film. However, he makes his return in the second film, and the heroes give their all to save their beloved homeland.

Boutella once again proves her skills in the choreographed fighting sequences, and there are many. Ed Skrein reprised his role as Noble, as did Michiel Huisman as Gunnar, Djimon Hounsou as Titus, and Staz Nair as Tarak.

Fans hail Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon Part 2 as the best film of the year

2024 has seen quite a few big hits already, but none as big as Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2. Adapted from Frank Herbert’s book of the same name, the film saw the rise of Paul Atreides as the Maud’dib.

Villeneuve’s film has been winning accolades from all quarters. From acting, to cinematography, to the score, the film has excelled in all areas. The director managed to bring Herbert’s work to life, including some of the more challenging aspects of the film. So far, the film has minted $685 million at the global box office, and it looks to hit the $700 million milestone soon.

Snyder’s latest film presents a different story though. It currently stands at 13% on Rotten Tomatoes, but this is not enough to deter the fans from calling it the best film of the year, even better than Villeneuve’s film.
