The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring was launched last week and continues to top the charts. While fans are having a great time with it, defeating the troublesome bosses isn’t the only challenge they’re focused on.

What fans have been busy with lately stems from recent statements by the game’s director and the president of FromSoftware, Hidetaka Miyazaki, about a potential film adaptation. That would be really cool, and it looks like fans aren’t the only ones thinking it could happen. George RR Martin is adding more fuel to the fire.

For those who don’t know, Elden Ring‘s director and FromSoftware president gave the green light to a possible movie adaptation in a statement to The Guardian. However, he mentioned that neither he nor FromSoftware had the experience to undertake this, and therefore, a strong partner would need to step in.

In the interview with The Guardian, Hidetaka Miyazaki said:

I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example. But I don’t think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium.

So that’s where a very strong partner would come into play. We’d have to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we’re trying to achieve, but there’s interest, for sure.

This statement comes at a time when gaming movies are extremely popular, and it’s likely something being considered behind the scenes. Even George R.R. Martin, whom fans of the series know well, added to the excitement with his blog post dated June 29.

George RR Martin made the following statements about speculations on his blog:

My thanks go to SFWA, to all the members who voted for me, to all the members who did not, and to Hidetaka Miyazaki and his incredible team at From Software, who made Elden Ring the best-selling (and best) game in the world for 2022.

Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on Elden Ring… I have nothing to say.   Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumor?

Not the most convincing denials.

What Exactly Is George RR Martin Trying To Say?

George RR Martin’s blog may indicate that FromSoftware is planning something.

Although he is a relevant author to Elden Ring, his sarcastic response to these claims on his blog was enough to escalate things and excite fans.

In this time when gaming films have become widespread, it wouldn’t be a stretch to expect similar actions from Elden Ring, especially after statements from such top figures. Despite all this, we still have not received an official confirmation that this is happening.
