Having practically invented a genre that millions of players around the world are praising, Hidetaka Miyazaki is close to achieving his perfect game. The director of titles like Bloodborne and Sekiro spoke in a recent interview about how he is very close to achieving what he considers his ideal game and that Elden Ring was the closest he has come.
The inventor of the Soulslike genre will probably make a couple more games to reach the perfection he always desires in fantasy RPGs.
Elden Ring Was Close, but Hidetaka Miyazaki Has Not Yet Made His Perfect Game According to His Own Criteria
With countless well-known games since he started his career in video games, Hidetaka Miyazaki achieved fame after making the Dark Souls saga. This popular director practically created a genre that attracted millions of players of all ages. With spectacular titles like Sekiro and Bloodborne, many fans believed he reached his peak with Elden Ring. Apparently, in a recent interview, he clarified that he has not yet made his ideal game but is very close.
In an interview published two days ago in PC Gamer, Miyazaki spoke about how close he is to achieving what he considers his ideal game. This talented director says he reached that near point of perfection with his latest title, which is about to release a new expansion in just a few days. He always refers to this as a personal preference, as he truly wishes to reach that point where he feels completely fulfilled.
Even After Titles Like Sekiro and Bloodborne, This Director Still Has More to Offer
Miyazaki commented the following on this topic: “Back when doing interviews about Elden Ring, I think I mentioned that I’m still in the process of making my ideal fantasy RPG. And while Elden Ring is not quite it, it’s pretty close. It’s getting close.” It is likely that this director does not have many more games to make, but the upcoming titles will be spectacular. Fans are both excited and sad to see these games.
The director went on to describe what his ideal fantasy RPG would be and what was missing from this hypothetical title. Miyazaki added, “It’s hard to say without giving spoilers for my next idea or our next games. But I think one thing that’s not necessarily missing, but makes it difficult to achieve my ideal, is that when I play it, I know everything that’s going to happen.” For now, what this well-known industry developer most desires is for players to enjoy the studio’s upcoming games.
Shadow of the Erdtree, the Elden Ring expansion, will arrive on June 21 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. After this DLC finally comes to light, FromSoftware has not yet revealed what their next project will be, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what they are preparing. For now, the studio’s followers will enjoy this downloadable content and will have to wait to see what’s next.
