Over the years, Fortnite Battle Royale has evolved into something more than just a popular video game that attracts the attention of all age groups. Between the competitive gameplay and seasonal changes, there’s a subtle social system in place that lets you add/manage friends, gift them cosmetic items, and be a part of a larger social circle.
A recent bug has been causing a dent in this social system, though, as players may be facing glitches with how gifting works. For the time being, be advised that the feature is facing certain issues, and postponing gifting something to your friends might be a good idea.
Before You Gift Something in Fortnite, Be Aware of this Ongoing Problem
In a recent tweet, iFireMonkey shared some valuable information about the game’s gifting system. Apparently, disabling (and then re-enabling) the option to send gifts or receive them is proving to cause a bug where players may be locked out of the feature entirely.
There’s no official workaround for this at the time of writing, so please stay cautious about this.
Had a few people bring this up to me but thought i'd share so more people are aware of it:

If you disable gifting and re-enable it currently you will be locked into having gifting disabled even if the option says you can receive gifts.
Ideally, players can gift cosmetic items directly from the item shop, and even purchase the battle pass for other players. The gifting system has been here for a while now, and it’s a great way to show one’s affection for fellow players in the game. At some point in history, Fortnite even made it possible to gift an entire season for free. This was Season 8 before Chapters were a thing.

Unfortunately, this is not the only problem the current season is facing. There’s another major ongoing issue that’s preventing players from tracking their progress in Fortnite’s battle pass. We’ll have to wait a bit until these problems are addressed by Epic and a permanent solution arrives.
The Gifting Bug is a Bit Tragic, As this Season Has Some Great Cosmetics
Fortnite: Battle Royale’s current season, Myth & Mortals, has some excellent skins that are up for grabs. A large aspect of this season links legendary Greek gods to the season’s battle pass. However, that’s not the only highlight.
Midas, a fan-favorite skin from previous chapters, has made a comeback. This time, a new version of the character has emerged and is available to purchase. Along with this, there’s a new LTM that players can try out. Seeing such cosmetics makes you want to invest some money in the game, or otherwise ask that rich friend of yours for a nice gesture.
Well, until there’s a solution for the gifting bug, it’s best to avoid gifting (or receiving) anything. In the meantime, the only way you should be acquiring new cosmetics is through the battle pass progression, or spending some hard-earned cash on those V-Bucks.
