In the vast cosmos of fandoms, Marvel and DC stand miles apart despite both sharing several similarities. Yet, fans of the two are often embroiled in clashes and rivalries, arguing over a plethora of things and blasting each other off. However, one particular figure, Zack Snyder, has often united the two fandoms. Not because of his talent and work but because fans love to hate the ingenious filmmaker for his feat in the DC universe.
But disrupting this harmony of hate is the X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo, who recently showed his unabashed admiration for Zack Snyder.
Beau DeMayo Supports Zack Snyder Despite Marvel Fans Vilifying Him
History has stood testament that fans are often the cruelest people that creators will often come across. Not only can they take a person to the highest podium of success but they can also drag the very same person to the depths of abysm, misery, and suffering.
And so it is for Zack Snyder (whose movies ironically are also widely hailed as among the best DCU flicks), whom fans just love to hate, something that even he has failed to grasp why (see The Atlantic). Joining in the hate are also Marvel fans, who apparently ridicule the filmmaker’s failed efforts in creating a DC universe similar to that of MCU.
However, Beau DeMayo, aka the creator of one of the best Marvel shows ever, X-Men ’97, recently showed his support to the heavily scrutinized director. In a recent tweet, DeMayo joked about one of DC’s biggest controversies: Martha.
Name of both Batman and Superman’s mother, DeMayo joked,
Also. Full disclaimer: I’m a Snyder fan. Especially Man of Steel.

Yet he later added that he is a Snyder fan, thus shutting out any and all fans who love to hate the former DC helmer. DeMayo had also previously revealed how Snyder’s Man of Steel was the inspiration behind one scene in Episode 8 of X-Men ’97 (via X).
Fans React To Beau DeMayo Being a Zack Snyder Fan
While Zack Snyder is often dragged here and there in fandom wars, even his fans are not spared. One swift look at websites like Reddit will show just how hated the Snyder Cult is across the fandom side of the internet. Hence, it was a big deal for a lot of Snyder fans when Beau DeMayo revealed his love for Zack Snyder and Man of Steel.
And this is how fans reacted to his tweet:
Thays great to hear. Snyders movies are fantastic.
On another note, I am stoked to see the Goat of Spider-mans has appeared in X-men. Really hope we get to see more of him and maybe get his old series back up and running.— Stanley Ipkiss (@restoreZSJL) May 2, 2024

I knew you were a Man of Steel fan as soon as I saw that scene of Storm flying after she got her powers back. It was an amazing homage.

Taste!
MOS is vastly underrated and unnecessarily hated on— Brer.Bear (@bear_brer) May 2, 2024
While some fans found his stance problematic, DeMayo’s love for Snyder does not diminish his commitment to his Marvel work but rather serves as a testament to his versatility as a storyteller. And so after winning the hearts of Marvel fans through X-Men ’97, DeMayo has also won the hearts of several DC fans who love Zack Snyder.
X-Men ’97 can be streamed on Disney+.
