However, there’s a certain boss fight in the DLC that’s not only reigniting nostalgia among players but also making them rage-quit and question FromSoftware’s efforts when it comes to fixing bugs and building smoother movesets for bosses.

Spoiler Alert!
Heavy spoilers for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

This Boss Fight in Shadow of the Erdtree Is Something You’ve Lived Through Before

Now, where have we struggled with this before?

In the Elden Ring, Starscourge Radahn is one of the toughest boss fights. The battlefield where the Tarnished goes against him is huge enough to ride around, yet Radahn’s attacks can be fatal when not dealt with correctly.

FromSoftware knew how difficult the fight was, and hence added multiple NPC Summons in hopes of making things simpler for the player. Even after doing this, the initial days post-launch were unforgiving for players who chose to go against Radahn.

Only a part of this challenge came from Radahn’s movesets. You see, the real reason why players were struggling lay in the fact that the boss fight felt like it was full of bugs and janky animations.

The same stays true for Promised Consort Radahn, who’s the final fight in Shadow of the Erdtree. This fight will feel as punishing and difficult as your earlier encounter with Radahn, but the unpolished way Radahn moves here adds to that painful nostalgia.

What makes it worse is how sometimes the NPCs cannot be summoned in certain areas when and as you need them. Instead, they may show up at a point in the fight when you may not even need their assistance.

Players May Have Gotten a Patch, but the Boss Fights Continue to Feel Painful

Shadow of the Erdtree's version of Radahn seems twice as menacing.

Players like Traditional_solid467 are using Reddit as a means to communicate their concerns about the game’s boss fights. Especially when it comes to the final face-off against Radahn.

Recently, the game received a patch that has made the first half of the DLC a bit simpler to progress through. While this may make a lot of Elden Ring players happy, problematic boss fights haven’t received any nerfs or fixes.

If history works its charm on the community, players can hope for a fix that makes Radahn a bit more bearable. Feels like old times again, right? Hopefully, FromSoftware will introduce another patch that addresses these problems.

In the meantime, trying new playstyles and making use of a Mimic Tear or NPC Summons for some assistance might make things easier, regardless of how experienced you are at the game.
