Fortnite sensation and popular streamer Ninja, who has an astounding fanbase of 19 million followers on Twitch, recently revealed that he was diagnosed with skin cancer. Ninja recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal details of his diagnosis.
Detailing the diagnosis, the streamer revealed that it was melanoma and has started the treatment. Further, he assured fans that the doctors were optimistic about his complete recovery as the cancer was caught in its early stages.
Ninja Revealed His Cancer Diagnosis
Popular streamer Richard Tyler Blevins, who goes by the name of Ninja and is known for his Fortnite broadcasting, recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with melanoma— a type of skin cancer that develops from melanocytes, cells that produce melanin and color the skin (per National Cancer Institute). “Alright I’m still in a bit of shock,” Ninja wrote on X addressing his fans. “But want to keep you all updated,” he added.
“A few weeks ago I went in to a dermatologist for an annual skin/mole check that Jess proactively scheduled for me. There was a mole on the bottom of my foot that they wanted to remove just to be careful. It came back as melanoma, but they are optimistic that we caught it in the early stages.”
The doctors of the streamer also discovered another dark spot and a biopsy was performed.
“I had another dark spot appear near it, so today they biopsied that and removed a larger area around the melanoma with the hopes that under the microscope they will see clear non-melanoma edges and we will know we got it,” Blevins added.
When it comes to cancer, earlier diagnosis generally propels the chances of recovery. Thankfully, Ninja caught it early before metastasis— when cancer cells spread to different regions of the body, which is quite fatal (via National Cancer Institute).
Fans Send Their Prayers and Wishes To Ninja
Before concluding his post, Blevins added that he was grateful to “have hope in finding this early.” Also, the streamer urged his fans to get skin checkups, “please take this as a PSA to get skin checkups.”
Fans of Ninja have taken to X to send their regards to the streamer.
