Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Online‘s big summer 2024 update, dubbed Bottom Dollar Bounties, is finally live now! Just like previous updates, Rockstar Games has added tons of new content to the decade-old multiplayer. We have new missions to complete, vehicles to purchase, and businesses to run. There’s something for everyone in this update.
While it’s an update packed with content, it hasn’t gone down well within the GTA Online community. Players are complaining about various aspects related to Bottom Dollar Bounties update. However, one of the core features of the update, bounty missions, has taken center stage in players’ complaints!

The biggest addition to the Bottom Dollar Bounties update in GTA Online, as the name suggests, is bounty hunting. After following the story to start up your bounty-hunting enterprise, you can take up bounties to track down bail-skipping and lock them in!
Initially, players were excited about this brand-new update. However, their excitement turned into disappointment once they realized how tedious these bounty-hunting sessions can be. Over on Reddit, GTA Online players feel like the update is basically a “Paleto Bay simulator”.
It’s a known fact that every GTA Online player absolutely despises anything that involves going to Paleto Bay in the game. It’s at the top of the map, and traveling there can be extremely time-consuming and draining. The area lacks the action-packed environment of Los Santos and doesn’t offer many opportunities.
For years, players have begged Rockstar Games to limit missions related to Paleto Bay. However, the bounty hunting aspect of the latest Bottom Dollar Bounties update seems to primarily focus on Paleto Bay. Players are incredibly frustrated with how every bounty mission forces them to travel to Paleto Bay.
What’s even worse is the fact that Rockstar forces players to make use of a slow-moving van that easily spins out and can’t even be upgraded. It’s clear that once again, Rockstar Games has failed to listen to the community and deliver what players have been asking for.
What Can GTA 6 Learn GTA Online’s Mistakes?

Grand Theft Auto 6 is all set to bring a new chapter to Rockstar’s long-running action franchise, and based on its first and only trailer, it will arguably be one of the biggest GTA titles yet. It’s been more than a decade since the release of GTA Online, so the upcoming GTA title definitely has a lot to learn from it.
When it comes to remote locations such as Paleto Bay in GTA Online, Rockstar can add high-reward missions and lucrative businesses in GTA 6 to make them even more worth traveling to. Rockstar needs to focus on giving players actually useful fast-travel vehicles and bringing exclusive content to remote areas to attract players.
While owning businesses and being CEO is a good way to generate cash in GTA Online, it can prove to be traumatizing in public lobbies. When doing missions for new businesses, players are forced to fight against other owners, regardless of their level, and compete for supplies. It’s crucial for Rockstar to have GTA 6 lobbies based on skill-based matchmaking that would make things fair.
