Given the more recent looks at the other heroes that are set to be in Superman (2025), fans have begun to speculate about what the plot of the film could be, and if the rumors are true, the audiences might be in for a unique take on the seminal Kingdom Come comic storyline.

Superman (2025) is set to depict another superhero team, the members of which are Guy Gardner, Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, and Metamorpho, who have all been revealed to have matching costumes with a Lordtech logo on them. Lordtech is the company under Maxwell Lord, who will be played by Sean Gunn in the DCU.

This has led fans to speculate that Superman could serve as a beacon to inspire superheroes to start doing good in their communities, rather than just being hired goons for governments and corporations.

@GrayHarden77 on Twitter has mentioned that such could be the direction of James Gunn‘s Superman, where Superman could serve as a beacon of hope in a world dominated by superheroes acting out of self-interest.

It is possible that by the end of the film, more ‘independent’ heroes come out of the woodwork to become public figures like Superman, which could lay the foundation for this universe’s version of the Justice League.

The DCU is definitely building towards a Justice League, but who should be on it?

Given that the DCU will definitely be looking to unite the Justice League down the line, the question that needs to be asked is who is going to be on the team. While it is a given that certain characters are bound to be part of the League (like DC’s flagship trinity with Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman), the remaining four slots (if we were to assume that the League will have its traditional seven members like it is expected to) can yield some interesting dynamics within the ranks of the Justice League.

We already know that there are a slew of films and shows announced for the DCU, such as Lanterns, which will feature Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart. Given that Guy Garner will make his debut with Superman (2025), it makes senses for at least one Green Lantern to be part of the Justice League.

The remaining three slots are anybody’s game, given that they may be filled with the usual suspects like Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman. However, given that Gunn is at the head of things at the DCU, these slots could be filled with niche characters that are not as popular but could make for interesting dynamics within the League. It would come as no surprise if characters like Icon, Booster Gold, Vixen, or Orion were to find their way as primary members of the League in its first iteration.
