Eric Kripke is opening up the universe of The Boys with last year’s Gen V and the upcoming untitled Mexican spinoff series. When Homelander appeared in the finale of Gen V, audiences believed that The Boys and Gen V would become fully interconnected with season 4 of The Boys. However, Kripke has a different approach with respect to how these properties connect.

In an interview with Variety, Kripke stated that there will be references and  Easter Eggs throughout each series which alludes to an interconnected universe. However, he does not plan for an ensemble team-up film featuring characters from both properties where audiences have to catch up on one series to understand what is going on currently. The showrunner said,

I like the idea that there’s strands and Easter eggs that kind of pop back and forth, but full team up — no. I live in total fear of this notion that you have to watch both of them to understand the other one.

The trailers of season 4 of The Boys have teased that some familiar faces from Gen V will appear in the new season. It remains to be seen how Kripke handles the interconnectivity of the two shows while also not making each show ‘mandatory viewing’ to understand the other.

Fans can watch both shows on Prime Video.
