Filoni later created and executive produced the 2023 live-action series Ahsoka, focusing on the character, with Rosario Dawson playing the role. She was joined by actors Hayden Christensen and Ray Stevenson in major supporting roles.

During an appearance at a fan event, Filoni spoke about Stevenson’s role in the series, as the actor passed away shortly before its release.

It’s incredibly sad but I’m so glad that he was a part of it. He wanted to wield that lightsaber, I just wish he got to see all of it.

Filoni made the above statement (via The Hollywood Reporter), praising Stevenson’s performance in the series.

However, Filoni’s comment also implied that Stevenson passed away before he could see his work in Ahsoka. Hence, Filoni’s biggest regret was Stevenson never getting a chance to see the actor realize his dream of working in the Star Wars franchise.

During the same interview, Filoni also shared his excitement to work with Hayden Christensen. Filoni was particularly interested in seeing the character in the World Between Worlds, which allowed him to explore new avenues of Anakin Skywalker. He said:

I was just instantly really excited because it just creatively opened us up a lot in terms of what we could do with the character.

At the same time, Filoni noted how the character’s story in the animated series and the prequels depicted him as an extremely emotional and volatile character. However, Filoni explained that seeing the character in the mystical World Between Worlds, allowed him to explore a new version of the character.
