The Helldivers community is renowned for thinking outside the box and recently, one idea came from vaults of the gaming history: Fallout. Players are speculating, what if, Super Earth starts distributing supercharge Guard Dog Stratagem to help them in neverending missions.

Helldivers 2 Can Enhance Gameplay Depth with Companions

Arrowhead introduce lore-accurate companions in Helldivers 2, assigned by Super Earth to every helldiver to aid in dangerous missions across the galaxy.

Let’s dive into the future, where players are accompanied not only by their elite squad but also by a faithful companion. Arrowhead has the chance to introduce lore-accurate companions, assigned by Super Earth, to every helldiver, to aid in dangerous missions across the galaxy. They can take inspiration from the likes of companions found in the Fallout series like Nick Valentine and Dogmeat, which help players in difficult situations.

Imagine Super Earth-issued Super Dog going into battle beside the players, helping them not only by following them but also by attacking enemies, pinning them down, and even covering their backs (against annoying smaller bug enemies). This will create a bond between the diver and the dog, while also increasing their offensive and defensive capability in the heat of battle.

Developers can easily implement this concept by introducing them as a specialized stratagem. Instead of dropping like an equipment pod (normal stratagem), these stratagems will deploy with the players, making them a part of the team.

Reddit User PrototypezView has even planned out, what happens if the Guard Dog gets destroyed in an intense battle. They speculated the animal could be placed beside you in the cryo-pod (If the whole mission failed) to create an even deeper bond.

Thoughts On Combat Companions?

The respawn capability of the Supercharge Guard Dog can be the same as other Stratagem, with a cooldown to recall. This makes them like re-deployable companions and also not broken in a fight (Imagine an unkillable Supercharge Guard dog assistant).

Companion’s Potential Lore Connections and Impact on Player Engagement

Companions can add more depth to the Helldivers 2 gameplay experience.

The inclusion of companions in Helldivers 2 wouldn’t be that far off from the game’s lore, as we already have various stratagem for help. They would not just be a cosmetic or a novelty, instead, they will allow players to have a more engaging gameplay experience, as seen in the Fallout series. It has the potential to add another dynamic element that could provide more depth to decision-making.

As of right now, these are all just speculations or imaginations of players, trying to gain more advantage and an emotional companion in the harsh world. However, Helldivers 2 can see this as a potential future opportunity to cement itself as the ultimate multiplayer experience in the gaming industry.

In the end, the search for freedom and the fight for Super Earth never ends. But having a loyal companion at your side: ready to fight, defend, and triumph alongside players will always make the journey a lot better.

What type of companion would you choose, if given the opportunity? Tell us in the comment section below.
