The character Homelander from The Boys has seeped into pop culture in such a huge way due to his diabolical and megalomaniacal behavior, making him a horrifying yet interesting villain. Starr has become synonymous with the character with many declaring that no one could have played the character as well as he did. However, a fan-made video on Instagram is now going viral where Starr’s face is swapped with Marvel star Chris Evans in the infamous Blindspot recruitment scene from season 2 of The Boys.

Evans’s voice is also replicated in the scene and it is indeed surreal to see Evans playing a character who is essentially a bastardized and immoral version of his Marvel character Captain America. One fan akhil_sann commented “He looks too kind to be a homelander”, pointing out how Evans’ Marvel role and his sweet personality in real life do not fit with him embodying a despicable character like Homelander.

Another fan hamza._jaleel commented “It’s cool but Antony starr will always be the only homelander”, doubling down the fact that fans of the show see no one else playing Homelander other than Starr. Episode 4 of the latest season of the show is a pure showcase of why he was born to play this role.

Antony Starr‘s Homelander has done some horrifying and heinous things over the three seasons of The Boys. However, his actions in the latest episode doubled down on the fact that he is a deeply flawed and irredeemable evil psychopath.

In a new interview with Business Insider, Starr revealed that the episode where Homelander got to revisit his past was his favorite one this season. The actor stated that his favorite part of paying Homelander is going deep down into his darker side, which exposes his vulnerabilities and ugliness. Starr said,

That’s actually my favorite episode of the season. I think we worked on it a bit and then went to set and kind of just let it rip. That’s what I’m really interested in with the character, is going into the deeper, dark places and the vulnerabilities.

Audiences have loved Starr’s performance in this episode and many have considered it to be Emmy-worthy (via ScreenRant). It remains to be seen where the character goes after the horrific bloodbath that he left in the final minutes of this episode. The first four episodes of The Boys are streaming on Prime Video.
