The video game autuer Hideo Kojima has never failed to surprise fans with his work. Too bad several of his ideas didn’t come to fruition. The Metal Gear Solid creator once desired to develop a zombie game, unlike the typical games in the genre we see today. Players would have had to play it with great care, as they wouldn’t have gotten another chance to.

Hideo Kojima is known for his unique approach to cinematic storytelling in his video games, which is a result of his strong passion for literature and film. And he’s also a fortune-teller; he just doesn’t know it.

Only if Hideo Kojima’s Ideas Were Accepted Would Metal Gear Rising Have Been Different

A Hideo Kojima Game‘ would be all it takes to make the fans go bananas. And in the game, the video game auteur wanted to create, this could have become a reality. In one recent video posted on the video-sharing platform YouTube, a user-provided an insightful presentation of ideas that the video game auteur had.

He had this concept about an online zombie game where a player would get to play as a character only once until they were bitten by one of the brain-dead NPCs. Interestingly, the player would lose control over the character for good and ultimately have to leave their digital buddy. To play again, one would need to create another account, whether they decide to kill their friend or move on.

While some didn’t like the idea very much, some fans appreciated it. One of them wrote, “An MGR game starring Gray Fox killing zombies sounds awesome. It sucks that we never got that.” The founder of Kojima Productions also claimed that he pitched the zombie simulation to Resident Evil director Shinji Mikami. However, it was never considered.

Still, Fans Have a Couple of Games They Can Look Forward to

Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2 hasn't gotten a release date yet.

Gray Fox, or as he is known in the Metal Gear series, Frank Jaeger, is a major character in the game, and Kojima wanted the character up against zombies. That would’ve been possible if his pitch for the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance sequel had been accepted by PlatinumGames. Moreover, there were rumors that Metal Gear Survive was originally a zombie apocalypse game but that was denied by the video game autuer.

In the meantime, there’s not even the slightest news regarding any zombie game developed by the video game autuer. However, we do have a couple of games due from Kojima Productions, Death Stranding 2 and OD; both games’ trailers are available on YouTube. The Japanese video game designer joined hands with American actor and filmmaker Jordan Peele for the latter game.

Zombie games rose in popularity following the release of Resident Evil. Hopefully, if Kojima’s ideas are accepted or he decides to go with a standalone game developed by his studio, it would be a cinematic treat.
