The Future of Elden Ring

Elden Ring has a bright future ahead of it. Elden Ring: Shadow of the ErdTree, which is going to be the only DLC the game is ever going to get, is set to release on June 30. Hidetaka Miyazaki, during his latest interview with the Chinese-language publication CampfireCamp, explains why he wants this to be the only Elden Ring expansion. He said:

Elden Ring emphasizes the exploration and adventure of the big world . . . Therefore, instead of splitting it into several parts, it is better to simply make one big [expansion]. If they were sold separately, the freedom of exploration and sense of adventure would be reduced.

Miyazaki also hinted that the DLC will be able to answer some lingering questions from the base game, like the relationship between the demigod Miquella and St. Trina, which is going to be further explored in the DLC. Miyazaki did not reveal much about the characters to keep the interview spoiler-free.

No new characters are going to be introduced in Elden Ring: Shadow of the ErdTree, and expect possible bug fixes; the DLC won’t alter anything else in the base game.
