The latest episode of House of the Dragon saw the war of succession between the Targaryens escalate as teams Black and Green try to avenge deaths on both sides. The episode followed Rhaenyra Targaryen as she tried to reason with Alicient Hightower while Daemon became troubled with his decisions.
However, one detail in the episode is exciting for Game of Thrones fans. When Rhaenyra sends off her sons to safety, she sends four dragon eggs with them. These eggs have been confirmed to be the same dragon eggs that were gifted to Daenerys Targaryen in the flagship show, which eventually hatched and became dragons.

Daenerys Targaryen became one of the most popular characters from Game of Thrones. The character, played by Emilia Clarke, was so culturally significant that many parents named their daughters ‘Daenerys’ and ‘Khaleesi’ due to her popularity (via NBC News). Clarke was also nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards four times for her role.
One of Taragryen’s titles is ‘Mother of Dragons’, due to her raising three dragons while she assembled her army to attack King’s Landing. The dragons first made their appearance as eggs in the first season of Game of Thrones. They are wedding gifts from the merchant Illyrio Mopatis when Daenerys marries Khal Drogo.

These eggs recently made an appearance in the prequel series House of the Dragon. The latest episode of season 2 shows four eggs being sent away with Rhaena Targaryen to Vale, along with Rhaenrya’s sons.
Director Geeta Vasant Patel confirmed that the eggs shown in the episode were the same that Daenerys was gifted in Game of Thrones (via Mashable).
Those are Daenerys’ eggs. All of us who work on this show are big Game of Thrones fans, so it was very exciting to shoot that scene.
While one egg is speculated to be Rhaena’s dragon Morning, the other three share the same appearance and will eventually make their way to Daenerys.
House of the Dragon Changes The Eggs’ Origin Story From The Books

While the literal easter egg House of the Dragon is a cool detail that connects the two fantasy shows, the origins of the dragon eggs are reportedly different in the source material i.e. George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. Though Rhaena is said to have taken three eggs to Vale, one of which becomes her dragon Morning, there are some differences.
According to Mashable, the books establish that the three eggs came to Illyrio Mopatis in Pentos, Essos before the war of succession shown in House of the Dragon. The eggs were stolen from Dragonstone by Elissa, a sailor and lover of Princess Rhaena (not the one shown in the series) after their relationship soured.
Elissa is said to have sold the eggs to the Sealord of Bravos and the journey of the eggs from there to Essos ends there. Due to the book’s narrative structure, which positions it as a historical record by multiple historians, the story of the eggs can be played around with by the makers of House of the Dragon.
House of the Dragon is available to stream on Max.
