Zack Snyder is almost synonymous with DC Universe, with the legacy of his Snyderverse titles, including Man of Steel. But the director might be in talks for his possible association with DC rival Marvel Studios.
Snyder has certainly elevated the essence of DC Studios before James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DC Universe to revamp the entirety of it. Now, Snyder’s association with the company has ended, and his return to the studio is very unlikely.
Zack Snyder May Direct One MCU Female Character
Zack Snyder had a glorious tenure at DC, and the director has gained a loyal and separate fanbase for his works under the banner of the superhero brand. But Snyder was also in talks for helming a Wolverine movie at 20th Century Fox once. However, he admitted that he was not quite close to directing the Hugh Jackman-starrer movies. “Probably not terribly close,” he told Josh Horowitz, appearing in his Happy, Sad and Confused Podcast. But it was a movie “I could, I for sure, I could do that.” Further, Snyder revealed that he would do an Elektra movie in a heartbeat.
“I’ve always, I have wanted to do that. Elektra is like, well, Elektra lives again, right? Really is the is the movie for me. Because it’s Lynn Varley and Frank Miller and the whole, it’s the old, it’s the, it’s like yeah, that would be, and that book is beautiful.”
The director is currently working with Netflix and is set to release part 2 of his recent movie series Rebel Moon starring Sofia Boutella in the lead. Snyder also plans to extend the franchise and will perhaps stick to Netflix for a while.
Zack Snyder is “Not Really” A Fan Of Multiverse In Movies
Snyder is now on a break from comic book movies, but when Horowitz asked the director about the multiversal ordeal that both MCU and DCU are exploring, Snyder was hesitant to appreciate the extent of it. “Not, not really,” he said about movies exploring the multiverse.
“I mean, I got to be honest. I spend my time, uh, you know, I do like I said, I you know, I said I’ve been doing, I make a lot of pottery. I kind of like you know, I like to draw a lot I’m you know, I’m, I write, you know and we’re always writing. I think that idea of consuming an entire universe of comic books is really kind of exhausting. Though I feel like it’s a slippery slope for me because if I started to get into it.”
Both Marvel and DC have explored multiversal narratives, allowing many characters or many versions of a character to appear at the same time, and fans have enjoyed most of it. Especially, MCU seemed to be doing with the idea with movies including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home. But if Snyder has to direct another comic book movie, it would be very unlikely that he would rope into the idea of a multiversal narrative.
