James Gunn’s DCU is set to kick start with Superman, promising a top-tier superhero experience straight out of the comics for the fans. The movie is in full swing, and leaks from the set spark frequent discussions online.
A recent leak featuring Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner has stirred up opinions among fans regarding their costumes. While many are eager to see these beloved superheroes brought to life on screen, some fans feel that the leaked suits don’t quite capture the essence of the characters as they had hoped.
New Leaks from James Gunn’s Superman Set Reveal Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner
James Gunn’s DCU reboot with Superman is in full swing, with exciting new developments on set. Recent sightings in Cleveland confirm Nathan Fillion and Isabela Merced in their superhero attire as Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl.
Fillion rocks Gardner’s iconic bowl cut and a revamped costume with more white accents, sporting the Lordtech logo similar to Mr. Terrific’s suit. Though glimpsed from the side, Merced flaunts a comic-accurate outfit and wields Hawkgirl’s signature mask.

The star-studded cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho. Sara Sampaio, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell have also joined the cast. Milly Alcock’s Supergirl is rumored to make an appearance, setting the stage for her own Woman of Tomorrow film, although it is merely a rumor at least for now.
While details on how these superheroes will intersect with Superman’s storyline remain vague. These characters may serve as Superman’s friends, potentially hinting at many comic book superheroes making the cut to live action.
People Are Not Big Fans of these Superhero Outfits
Superman’s superhero suits, as glimpsed in leaked set pictures, have not quite hit the mark with fans. Many have voiced their disappointment, pointing out that the costumes lack the creative spark and visual appeal they were hoping for.
This ongoing dissatisfaction has sparked lively discussions online, with fans sharing their concerns about the overall quality and design choices of the suits.
Here is what the fans have to say,
I want a better look at Hawkgirl. I don’t love these suits, but I can dig the story behind them, depending on what’s going on with LordTech and Maxwell Lord. They’re more uniforms than unique costumes, and that might be part of the story.

People are so easily bought… They will clap for anything. Can’t believe they’re saying these suits are good, they look like cheap chinese cosplays.

DCEU having the best suits of all time is still holding up vs this garbage 😭

Not in love with the looks but we’ll have to wait and see I think. I know Fillion can play Gardner well in attitude and characterization, but I do kind of wish they went with a younger actor. If the story is good, it doesn’t matter though.

If I say I loved these suits, I'd be lying.
But I understand that Hawkgirl's costume needs post-production, and I also believe that they are team suits, which differ from the costumes we are used to seeing these characters wearing.

Not a big fan of the suits tbh, but since these seem to be Maxwell Lord issued suits we might still get others further down the road. Also these are still just unofficial set photos.
I'm fine with Guy's hair and Hawkgirl's morning star.

Fans this time around seem to have specific criticisms of the suits, finding them rather unconventional instead of outright hating on them. While they’re not exactly what fans were hoping for, they are willing to wait for more pieces of information to come out.
Superman will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
