Ah, the power of harmless pranks & awkward encounters! Imagine if one innocent crush confession between Nicole Kidman and Jimmy Fallon had the potential to derail Jimmy Fallon’s career overnight. Kidman, being the graceful actress she is, once revealed her past crush on Fallon during an interview on The Tonight Show in 2015.

The conversation took an unexpected turn when Fallon realized he had unknowingly been on a “date” with Kidman, thinking they were just meeting to discuss her movie, Bewitched. When she told him that she had “liked” him years before, his mouth dropped open.

During the interview, he literally fell out of his chair after asking.

Fast forward to the present day, and the joke about the date has become a running gag between Kidman, Fallon, and her husband, Keith Urban. Recalling that now-viral interview, Fallon laughed and said the following when he mentioned it to Deadline Hollywood in April:

What’s been fun is running into Keith Urban at all these parties and stuff, who’s a really good sport. I went up to him at the Met Gala and I go, ‘Hey, I think we might have dated once?’ and he was laughing.

Urban, being the good sport that he is, even orchestrated a prank involving Fallon holding Kidman’s hand at a party, much to the TV host-actor’s initial hesitation. As might be expected, Fallon agreed to it despite his fear that the actress would become irate. The former recalled:

[Keith] goes, ‘Nicole’s talking to someone across the table. Why don’t you go and just hold her hand? She’ll think it’s me, and then I’ll go around the table and wave at her’.

“Oh my gosh, I don’t want to get slapped”, Fallon said in response.

The hilarious mix-up led to some awkward yet entertaining moments, cementing the trio’s fun friendship. Despite the potential for a slap or two, everyone had a good laugh in the end.

The couple’s journey through Hollywood’s glittering glamour has been nothing short of a fairy tale. From Kidman’s Best Actress nominations to Urban’s chart-topping hits, they have always been each other’s biggest fans. When Kidman was recognized for her role in Being the Ricardos, Urban took to social media to shower her with praise, showing the world just how proud he is of his talented wife:

Their love story began in a serendipitous moment at the 2005 G’Day USA Gala, where Kidman first laid eyes on Urban. Despite her initial crush on him, Urban seemingly played hard to get, not calling her for four months. The actress confessed at the time (via TODAY):

I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me. It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months.

But as fate would have it, their paths crossed again and the rest, as they say, is history. Ergo, like a lovely song that never fades from memory, their marriage is a harmonious symphony of love, support, and understanding that reverberates through all of life’s ups and downs.
