Sylvester Stallone has made a name for himself through many different types of roles. He dominated the 1990s through films like Rocky and Rambo. In the years since, he has starred in films like The Expendables and Escape Plan, which have helped him keep his crown. Most recently, he has become the lead star of the critically acclaimed series, Tulsa King.

The show has been getting a lot of attention from all corners of Hollywood, and its second season has been highly anticipated. While there is a lot more to the show than who is a part of it, Taylor Sheridan’s role as director has caused a lot of speculation. Many fans are beginning to wonder if Stallone’s beloved series would join hands with another one of Sheridan’s classics, Yellowstone.
Recently, Stallone commented on exactly this, and fans may be quite disappointed with the answer he gave.
Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi Meets John Dutton?
Sylvester Stallone recently made an appearance at a roundtable (via CinemaBlend) where he was asked quite an interesting question. Even though Tulsa King is best known for starring the Rocky actor, it is also directed by the legendary Taylor Sheridan. Another one of Sheridan’s famous series is Yellowstone, which is regarded as one of the best series in the Western genre.

Knowing this, during the interview, Stallone was asked if the two shows would ever have a crossover. Yellowstone has already established a universe of its own, with multiple spin-off shows taking place in different time periods. It would not be too far-fetched if the filmmaker were to merge another one of his works with the ‘Sheridanverse’.
You mean I go over and I kill John Dutton? No problem. You got it. Take over the ranch, you know.
The question seemed to have come off as quite a shock to Stallone, who questioned if fans would like to see his character, Dwight Manfredi, kill Kevin Costner’s John Dutton. He then went on to answer the question in a more honest manner to set realistic expectations for fans.
Tulsa King Is Adding Yellowstone Elements
Sylvester Stallone then went on to talk about how Taylor Sheridan’s time in Yellowstone seems to be bleeding into his other works. The actor revealed how the new episodes of Tulsa King are set to have some inspiration from the world of cowboys.
No, I think we’re getting kind of close to it. You’ll see later on in the episodes I do get into the cowboy aspect of it, and some of these real tough guys. And it’s going to continue that way when I start to get involved with the oil baron types, and the really tough guys. They don’t mess around.
So we’re kind of blending the two together, but will I actually be staying in John Dutton’s guest house? I doubt it.

While some fans may be disappointed with this news, Tulsa King borrowing the cowboy-western themes from Yellowstone is certainly something no one saw coming.
Tulsa King is set to premier its second season on September 5th, 2024 on Paramount+.
