Talking about his time on the sets of the film with Burt Reynolds, Gosling told on Jimmy Kimmel Live!,

I thought he took a shine to me. I thought he thought there was something special about me. And then I realized that I have a really beautiful mom. He was just kind of interested…It was like I was getting a secondary shine. The real shine was for my mom. And I was like, ‘Oh, this is secondary shine’. I wish I had found out sooner.

Gosling confirmed that nothing had transpired between the legendary actor and his mother. This led to host Jimmy Kimmel remarking that if things had worked out between the two, Gosling would have been Ryan Reynolds.

Though Ryan Gosling was disappointed by receiving special attention from legendary actor Burt Reynolds not for his skills but due to his beautiful mother, the Drive star reportedly received one piece of advice from the icon.

Gosling mentioned on the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! that the actor gave him a weird piece of advice that still did not make sense to him. He said,

He was like, ‘Let me tell you something kid, Don’t spend your whole life stepping over diamonds to live with a cubic zirconia’. I was like, ‘I’m 13. I don’t know what any of those things are.’ I don’t know what any of that is. Stop looking at my mom. I’m right here.

The White Lightning star also reportedly advised the kids in the cast not to watch his film Deliverance, which they ignored and got scarred for life.
