Rising to stardom doesn’t make one immune to cringe moments, and when asked if he had any embarrassing experiences in the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Joseph Quinn didn’t say otherwise. But among his “miscellany of cringe”, the one that still haunts him is the Stranger Things alum’s first encounter with Taylor Swift, as he recalled greeting the Shake It Off singer with, “You’re Taylor Swift.

The actor clarified he definitely meant that as a compliment, and fortunately for him, Swift, who spoke highly of Stranger Things, was in good humor about it.

I met Taylor Swift once, and I said, ‘You’re Taylor Swift.’ She was very funny. She said something nice about like the show [Stranger Things], and I said, ‘Oh, thanks. You’re Taylor Swift.’ I meant it as a compliment… It’s definitely a compliment, and I remember thinking like, That was f—ing stupid. But she was very good-humored about it.

But despite getting off on the wrong foot, things did seem to work out fine for the two, as the Fantastic Four star joked he might even star in her future albums.

Quinn told People:

She said that I’m going to have a blast and to enjoy it. She was very helpful when I was considering all of that stuff. She’s obviously part of that world and spoke about her experience with a lot of fondness, so it was encouraging

But his introduction to the MCU isn’t the lone exciting part of his career moving forward, as before that, Quinn will star in the sequel to Gladiator, which releases later this year.

A Quiet Place: Day One is currently running in theatres.
