The man behind the title and many others from FromSoftware, the studio that began the Soulsborne genre, is Hidetaka Miyazaki. The industry is the studio president and the director of various titles known for their excruciatingly tough difficulty level. But when asked how well his titles treat him, Miyazaki-san gave an interesting answer.

Elden Ring’s Hidetaka Miyazaki’s response when asked about his ability to stay alive in a Soulsborne title

Elden Ring and other Soulsborne titles required a lot of grinding to get good.

Before Elden Ring, FromSoftware was responsible for Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed and commercially successful PS4 exclusive. Like many other Soulsborne titles, the latter, the former, was directed by Miyazaki-san himself.

GamesRadar also interviewed him right after the game came out, and the interviewer asked him how good he is at them and how often his in-game character faces death. To which he responded:

I think Id better pass on giving a straight answer. To say that Im not the greatest at games would be an understatementBut even so..I can beat this title, albeit with a lot of teeth gritting. The same goes for both Demons Souls and Dark Souls.

It is worth noting that even the man who directed most of the Soulsborne title lineups and has worked on everyone doesn’t have a cakewalk with the rage-inducing titles. This implies that it is incredibly typical and almost certain that the average Soulsborne aficionado struggles with the titles’ difficulty.

The legendary Game Director also talked about the incredible and almost unbelievable feats a few Soulsborne players achieved in the title. This includes some players accomplishing feats like completing the titles with no damage taken, no upgrades, etc.

Miyazaki-san on gamers taking it up a notch with titles like Dark Souls and Bloodborne

The game director was frank with his answer when the interviewer asked about his skill.
The game director was frank with his answer when the interviewer asked about his skill.

As stated when the interviewer asked Miyazaki-san about his thoughts on some of the most unimaginable feats that players have accomplished with his titles, this is what he said:

Indeed, I am left in awe. Challenges we could never conceive of have gloriously surfaced, with equally glorious skill and determination put into beating them. Most of these stunts are drummed up by the players themselves which is exactly why they are so significant.

It certainly speaks about the polar opposite nature of the two sides of gamers who enjoy Hidetaka Miyazaki’s titles. One side struggles to complete his titles without any added caveats. The others go truly berserk in their approach and deliberately set up unimaginably tough challenges only to conquer them.

But one thing is for sure: whether one belongs to the first group of people or the second, there are various ways and flavors of fun to be had with Soulsborne titles. What has been the most challenging Soulsborne title for you? Let us know in the comment section below!
