The world of Elden Ring is vast and mysterious. While we learn of many events, locations, and people as we progress through the story, we do not have first-hand experience with each. FromSoftware’s defining feature is creating lore that spans uncountable years before the events the player experiences.

Among these mysteries is the demigod and Empyrean Miquella. The offspring of Radagon and Marika, and brother to Malenia, we hear many mentions and stories of the demigod but never see him within the game. Shadow of the Erdtree might change that as we embark on a quest to find him.

Will Elden Ring Players Meet the Youthful Demigod in the DLC?

The name Miquella is found in almost every aspect of Elden Ring lore. One of the only Empyreans said to be working towards a greater good, he is spoken of highly and sought by many. Both Malenia and Mohg are enthralled by him, each fighting to the death to protect him from any threat.

So, the fact that we never encounter him is surprising. The hand emerging from the cocoon in Mohg’s arena is said to be his, but this is not confirmed. Shadow of the Erdtree may be able to clear up these queries, as we will be following in the footsteps of the demigod, quite literally, while exploring the Land of Shadow.

However, actually meeting him is a debated topic among fans. Some are excited to see his face, but others hope he remains an enigmatic character, making his presence known only in subtle ways. We’ve seen glimpses of him in the trailer, but no clear shot of how he looks.

Exploration Is Essential To Understand The Land of Shadow

So much to explore and so many ways to die.

All FromSoftware titles encourage and reward the player for veering off the beaten path and exploring the world. Despite the risks this may entail, of which there are many, discovery in Elden Ring always leads to rewards, even if it is not a new weapon or item. Much of the lore in these games is hidden in locations that can only be accessed by being curious.

There is also going to be a fair bit to explore in the upcoming DLC, as Miyazaki has confirmed it is the largest expansion FromSoftware has developed to date. With the map being as large as the starting area of Limgrave from the base game, current estimates place the playtime anywhere between 30 – 40 hours!

We are now less than 15 days away from the release of the DLC, and the hype is steadily building. Many fans have claimed this expansion might rival some full-fledged games for the title of Game of the Year. With the effort FromSoftware puts into everything it releases, this might very well be the case.
