Chris Pratt was spotted on the set of Superman, sitting with James Gunn behind the scenes, watching the shoot unfold. This has caused a lot of speculation about whether the actor will be a part of the DCU, and the Guardians of the Galaxy alum has been playing coy about it as well.
Chris Pratt is an old-time collaborator of Gunn, being the face of Gunn’s run in the MCU with Guardians of the Galaxy. While Star-Lord is expected to return to the MCU, there has been a lot of hubbub about the actor becoming a part of James Gunn’s DCU. With his recent comments, it seems that his entering the DCU might be closer to reality than expected.
Chris Pratt is open to joining the DCU should it fit his schedule
Speaking to TMZ, Chris Pratt said that he was definitely open to working with James Gunn in the DCU, provided it fits into his schedule. He said:
Well, there’s always a chance. But of course, I wouldn’t be able to spoil it here on the sidewalk with you. I could, but I better not.- But of course, if I can fit it in my schedule.
It might seem like the actor has already been cast in a role for the DCU, given how coy The Tomorrow War alum was with his answer, but it is also possible that he was simply visiting the set, as is often the case with directors and their frequent collaborators. For example, Tom Cruise visited the set of Ready Player One to meet with Steven Speilberg, but the actor did not feature in the film, despite its extensive pop-culture-reliant narrative.
While some fans want to see Chris Pratt as Booster Gold, there is another role the actor can essay well
Given that Pratt has been a part of some of the most lucrative franchises in recent memory, having consistently delivered some great work across the board. Be it the MCU, Jurassic World, Super Mario Bros., or The Lego Movie, Pratt has consistently brought in the big bucks for Hollywood, which means there is a role for him as a lead in the DCU, should he ever be cast in it. While Booster Gold is a popular choice for the actor, there is another role that could suit the actor more.
Chris Pratt could essay the role of Shazam in the DCU, given that the character has the physique for DC’s Captain Marvel, and could easily pull the immature but kind-hearted nature of Billy Batson.
Pairing him with the right child actor could yield a great Shazam for the DCU, which would also match the vibes that Corneswet’s Superman has been giving off. Alternatively, the actor would also look great essaying the role of playing Hal Jordan, Earth’s premiere Green Lantern.
Superman will be coming to theatres on July 11th, 2025
