Being the best there is in one particular field comes with its own disadvantages, and it seems that Hidetaka Miyazaki is facing his fair share of them right now. The renowned director, known for making some of the best titles in the gaming industry to date has revealed how he is yet to make an ideal RPG game and would love it if someone else finally steps up and does it for him.

To state the obvious, Miyazaki cannot be someone who remains oblivious to the very game he directs and produces, causing him to lose the thrill and experience he delivers to other players. This is also exactly the reason why he has invited other producers to produce the kind of game he does in the hopes that one day someone will let him experience his dream gameplay experience without him already knowing the game’s conclusion.

The president of FromSoftware has reached the highest title that one can hold in the industry, and all of this was done through his dedication to delivering to gamers some of the best work ever produced. Hidetaka Miyazaki’s journey first started with the production of Armored Core: The Last Raven in 2005, with his career finally getting the big break it had been looking for with the Demon’s Souls title in 2009.

There was no coming back from that, as he continued to deliver even better titles after 2009, eventually becoming the president of the studio in 2014, and releasing his best-selling title, Elden Ring in 2022. Despite the immense success, Miyazaki regrets not being able to play his own games with the same perspective as other players. Talking about the same, he stated the following in an interview via PC Gamer

It’s hard to say without giving spoilers for my next idea or our next games. But I think one thing that’s not necessarily missing, but makes it difficult to achieve my ideal, is that when I play it, I know everything’s going to happen. I already know everything that’s going on. So in terms of enjoying the game from a player’s perspective, I’d love to not know that, and for somebody else to make my ideal fantasy game, please, if possible. Then I can enjoy it just as a player.

The director, as discussed before, stated how he lacks the feeling of heading in blind into a game. He also states how he would love to know what the player experiences when they head into such an experience and would appreciate it if somebody else finally stepped up and came up with the ideal fantasy game he has always dreamed of.

Elden Ring, a game which is set to soon receive a large expansion in just three days is one of the greatest piece of work that Hidetaka Miyazaki has curated to date. The game, which was made in collaboration with George RR Martin also managed to achieve the iconic status, even winning the Game of The Year Award.

However, creating it was no piece of cake, as revealed by the director himself, who mentioned how throughout its 5 years of development the title gave many troubles during production before it was finally released to the public in 2022.
