With only four more chapters left, Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia is moving towards its end after entertaining the fans for ten years. The series has finally finished with the battle against Shigaraki Tomura and All for One, and now the students of U.A. are just getting ready for their promotion to the next class.
However, considering the story, it looks like Horikoshi has a lot to work on in a sequel or a spinoff series that can be part of the My Hero Academia world. But in order for it to work, the mangaka has to come up with an even better narrative than the current one and make it more entertaining for My Hero Academia fans in the future.
While there have not been any confirmed announcements about Horikoshi working on a sequel or a spinoff, the manga creator did talk about a bonkers sequel idea that he would like to work on if he gets the time. Although the concept that Horikoshi has in mind feels crazy, it might just work with My Hero Academia fans.
Kohei Horikoshi’s Sequel Idea
My Hero Academia’s creator was recently interviewed by Mammoth Base Opera Castle, where he was asked about the future of his magnum opus and what he plans to do next after My Hero Academia is finally over. Talking about his future, Horikoshi revealed that he wants to enjoy it a little before getting into another story.
Horikoshi stated:
If I ever get around to it. I want to enjoy myself before deciding to do another series. I could just plot it, though. I’m thinking aliens from space attack wanting to add Earth to their evil empire. That sounds fun.
Although Horikoshi talked about enjoying himself before doing another series, he did come up with an idea on the spot for the sequel, which will involve aliens coming from space to attack Earth and adding the planet to their empire. While the idea is a little different from the My Hero Academia theme, it might just work.
What’s Next for My Hero Academia?
My Hero Academia recently released Chapter 426 of the manga, which focused primarily on Endeavor and his reconciliation with his family. Kohei Horikoshi had already announced that the series will end after Chapter 430, which, according to the timeline, will be released on August 5. This most likely means that the mangaka is already done with the conclusion.
Although the story has a perfect ending, there are still some plot holes in the My Hero Academia narrative. Deku’s father, the origin of quirks, the next phase of U.A. students, etc. are some of the major topics that are still left to be covered, and they could very well work as the basis for a sequel or spinoff of My Hero Academia.
But, in the end, it all depends on Horikoshi and how he wants to take the next step in the story. There are only four chapters left to the end of My Hero Academia, and fans can now only hope that the mangaka returns soon with a compelling sequel or spinoff.
