Although not a lot of stars of Conroy’s stature have jumped the ships from DC to Marvel or vice versa, the late actor once revealed that he would definitely do it if he was given the chance.

Once in an interview with ComicBook, Kevin Conroy was asked if he would ever be interested in appearing in a Marvel animated series or movie and the actor spoke like a true professional, He said,

“Of course! I’m an actor. Actors want challenges, they want to be stretched.”

Although Conroy never managed to portray a role in the Marvel universe, he would’ve been the perfect person to voice the character of Nathaniel Essex aka Mister Sinister in Marvel’s latest X-Men ’97 series.

Christopher Britton is voicing Mister Sinister in X-Men ’97

Nathaniel Essex aka Mister Sinister is one of the most iconic villains of the Marvel universe appearing in multiple storylines of X-Men comics. Mister Sinister does not like getting his hands dirty and usually manipulates other characters into doing his dirty work.

Marvel recently revived its highly successful X-Men: The Animated Series from the 90s under the name of X-Men ’97. The showrunners of the show have even tried to bring back the original voice actors from X-Men: The Animated Series in order to keep the consistency in both series despite having a 30-year gap in release.

Mister Sinister serves as the primary antagonist of the first season of X-Men ’97 and is voiced by Christopher Britton who also voiced the character in X-Men: The Animated Series. Although Britton is an absolutely incredible voice actor, we couldn’t help but wonder how awesome it would have been if Kevin Conroy had voiced the character in X-Men ’97.

4 episodes of X-Men ’97 have been released so far and in one of them, we saw the extent to which Mister Sinister would stoop to create so imagined ‘perfect mutant.’ In the episode, ‘Fire Made Flesh’, Mister Sinister tasks a clone to kidnap the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey in order to experiment on the child. He is confronted by the X-Men as he is experimenting on the child and escapes after the clone he created turns on him.

The first 4 episodes of X-Men ’97 are currently streaming on Disney+.
