However, her on-screen charm would have (almost) never happened as she nearly lost her life in a car crash that she’s still trying to recover. In an interview with The Guardian, she recounted her past when she was involved in a car accident at 21.

Drunk drivers, three carloads of teenagers in the middle of the day were drag-racing down the wrong side of a two-lane highway and ran head on into the car I was in.

Due to the incident, nearly every bone in her lower body was broken, which left a drastic impact on her emotionally. She shared, “It took a very long time to recover. I’m still trying to recover.”

But this accident also made her realize the true value of life in a way she hadn’t before. She started appreciating it more as she added,

Yes, when you almost lose your life, it becomes pretty dear. I don’t know if you can know how dear it is until you are faced with losing it.

After the incident, she went through several operations throughout her life which somehow became “my hardest and my best teacher” as the incident taught her profound lessons about life and resilience. Not just the actress, but The Big Bang Theory spin-off co-star also had to face a similar tragedy, as she sought a therapist to process it all.

Missy Cooper, Sheldon’s twin sister has undergone numerous ups and downs throughout the Jim Parsons narrated show’s run, earning a special place in audiences’ hearts. However, the actress behind the character faced a daunting ordeal when she was involved in a car crash in January 2023.

While the actress was going to the set of the CBS sitcom with her mother, a driver under the influence t-boned them. In an interview with PEOPLE, she admitted recounting every single detail about the car crash which distressed her, with the actress struggling with panic attacks.

I still have panic attacks sometimes, having to get in the car or [when] someone else who’s driving hits their brakes quickly. You feel your heart speed up and even though you’re fine physically, it just does stick with you.

Since the car crash, she has been seeing a therapist which affected her positively when it comes to her mental health. In an Instagram post, the actress further reflected on that time, adding that she suffered from “full-blown panic attacks and PTSD for weeks” after the accident. She expressed her gratitude towards her cast and crew who helped her get through the difficult period.

While the CBS sitcom, Young Sheldon has already been concluded, one can watch it on HBO Max.
