Netflix is now one of the most popular streaming websites all over the world. Containing a plethora of movies, TV shows, reality TV, and more, the streaming giant has made life easier for countless cinema buffs. But it is the binge-watchers who have greatly benefitted from the availability of sites like Netflix.
While it does not happen with every series, it is typical for the streaming giant to release all episodes or a bunch of episodes in one go. While many fans love this technique, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off creator recently lashed out on the platform for its dumb practice.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Creator Calls Out Netflix For Its Streaming Practice
In a world where viewers usually have to wait a week to see the next episode of their favorite ongoing series on TV, getting all episodes at once on streaming platforms was a good change for many. Not having to wait in anticipation for a whole week to find out what happens next with their favorite characters is not a favorite pastime of many fans.
Yet, the co-creator of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, BenDavid Grabinski does not think that this practice of Netflix and other streaming platforms is beneficial for shows. In a recent string of tweets, Grabinski went on to call out Netflix in particular for dropping all episodes at once, a feat that happened with Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
“As someone who had his whole season drop all at once at the same time, it’s the dumbest sh-t ever. There’s literally no upside. Imagine if the whole season of X-MEN 97 was out.”
Continuing, the show creator stated how he wanted the anime television series to have a slow release. Rather than having it all being dumped out there in one go, Grabinski wanted the platform to release two episodes every week for four weeks.
Yet while there have been calls from fans over this practice of releasing all episodes at once, several fans feel that it is a better way.
Fans Don’t Agree With Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Creator
After the comments of BenDavid Grabinski went viral, fans had mixed reactions. While some agreed with him, stating how a slow burn is beneficial for a show’s success and longevity, others had their own opinions. Since being able to binge-watch is an important reason why people love online streaming sites like Netflix, many fans did not agree with Grabinski.
As his comments went viral, here is what fans had to say:
Streaming is not TV. Don’t try make it TV. We want the whole season.

I would rather get the show and find out of its all good rather than wait weeks to desperately hope that it won't crash and burn.

personally I get turned off having to wait week by week for a show. I'd rather just watch the whole thing at once. it's why I haven't gone into shogun yet

Ppl underestimate the power of binging all episodes in one go, that’s how stranger things & Ozark became huge successes!!!!

As the discussion continued, some fans even remarked how a series is released depends upon the content of the show and its narrative. Yet Scott Pilgrim Takes Off creator seemed to have his heart set on weekly releases.
Meanwhile, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off can be streamed on Netflix.
