The Fantastic Four will finally be making their way to the MCU, and hopefully, by the time they get there, the X-Men will be there too, given that Deadpool & Wolverine might be introducing Marvel’s merry mutants to the Sacred Timeline as well.

However, it has been confirmed that will take place in an alternative 1960s New York. This means that audiences will be introduced to a whole new universe, one with its own unique history, which could merit the reintroduction of some characters that have been absent from the MCU for one reason or another.

Avengers: Endgame saw a lot of main characters of the franchise get benched, with Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Widow taken out of the running for various reasons. However, while promoting The Marvels, Kevin Feige said:

We’re doing a project with Scarlett, I love Robert, he’s part of the family, but in terms of returning, we’ll have to see.

Not only was this not a direct shutting down of the rumor, but it clearly implied that everyone is at least open to return to the MCU. While there is no word on whether we will see Chris Evans in the MCU as Captain America again, the actor has another history with Marvel characters that can get him into the Multiverse Saga (as the Human Torch.)

However, given that we know that The Fantastic Four will take place in an alternate New York in the 1960s, fans might be able to see a world where our Avengers exist in their 60’s personas. This could see RDJ, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johanson reprise their roles in the MCU.

2025 is going to be a huge year for Marvel and DC. To begin with, the year is looking to open with Captain America: Brave New World, which is going to start assembling a new line of Avengers in the MCU. Then, July of the year is going to see the DCU release its first theatrical entry with Superman, which will be followed closely by The Fantastic Four in a few weeks.

With the casting for both films announced, it is possible the SDCC is going to reveal more information for each. The last day of Comicon is when The Fantastic Four is expected to begin shooting, so it is highly unlikely that there will be footage to be seen from the film. However, Superman has already started filming (with new details being revealed close to one another), so there is a possibility that some footage might be shown at Comicon exclusively.

The Fantastic Four will release in theatres on July 25th, 2025.
