Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 and since the Star Wars Universe as a whole has consistently gone on to disappoint fans. While there have been some brilliant entries, the majority of them have been a massive disappointment, given how all of them have treated George Lucas’ legacy. But the cherry on top has been The Acolyte, Disney’s latest series in the franchise, which is being deemed by many as the worst thing that ever happened to the Star Wars universe.
Seeing the series’ reception, certain critics, like before, have been blaming the toxic fandom and anti-feminists for The Acolyte‘s failure. However, fans have had enough and declared that their problem isn’t with female-led stories but with Disney!
Star Wars Fans Have Had Enough of Dinsey Destroying George Lucas’ Legacy
George Lucas, all those years ago, did not merely create a fantasy world for the audience to enjoy, he created a phenomenon that has found its way into everyday life and culture. Star Wars might not have as high-grossing films as the MCU, but it certainly is one of, if not the biggest sci-fi franchises in the world.
But ever since Disney acquired the franchise, fans believe the Mouse House has incessantly worked to destroy everything that Lucas and his crew built and shaped. The Acolyte has been the final straw that had made fans revolt against the studio’s consistently disappointing projects, which not only lack quality, precision, and direction but also severely lack the Star Wars magic.
On the other hand, critics have been accusing fans and their toxic culture of the failure of the franchise under Disney. A recent article has particularly caused an uproar in the fandom for blaming the fandom’s aversion to strong female characters as the reason why projects like The Acolyte have failed.
Fans, however, have had enough of Disney destroying and bashing male characters for the sake of inclusivity, diversity, and representation in not only the Star Wars franchise but their other projects as well (see Reddit). They claim that while they have wholeheartedly loved and supported several female characters like Leia, Ahsoka, Mon Mothma, Bo-Katan, and more, it is Disney butchering the franchise and creating lackluster projects that have caused the downfall of the space opera franchise in recent years.
Fans Want George Lucas’ Star Wars Back!
Star Wars fans finally have had enough of critics and Disney executives blaming fans and the apparently male-dominated fandom as the reason why the space fantasy universe has been failing under the House of Mouse. The majority of fans do not agree with such opinions and claims, instead several of them have loved female-led Star Wars projects and supported female representation in the franchise.
It is, but the drastically diminishing quality, apparent male bashing, bad writing, bad story, bad acting, and more have made fans against Disney’s Star Wars universe. Not only do they dislike how the billion-dollar studio has treated creator George Luacs’s legacy but also the way they have diverted from the original Star Wars theme (see Reddit).
It's funny how they try to call us sexist when one of the most beloved characters in our community is Ahsoka Tano

The pride of these people. They can’t admit they are making a bad product. The consumer is the problem. Imagine running a business this way.

I don't understand why the fans are always the problem.. if you have a product with a specific target audience, a very hardcore fanbase that spent tons of money in merchandise or gadgets for years, and you decide to completly change that product.. you should expect a reaction… pic.twitter.com/nyimsrK32U

Ever since Disney took over the franchise, we've been told that we, the fans, are the problem.
Just pretend this show doesn't exist. Don't watch it. Don't mention it. Delete all videos you made about it.
At this point, if you still have a Disney+ subscription, shame on you.

Why dont they create their own fictional universe filled with all their leftist fantasy tropes instead of pissing all over loved and established creations?
…asked by everyone.

Disney has managed to turn Star Wars into an uncool, feminist brand
If your job in 2012-15 was to destroy the Star Wars brand, you couldn’t have done a better job than KK & Disney have done. They have truly killed the unkillable brand

Every business relies on its customer, if the product is not of value, the business is meant to fail. Yet, in recent times criticism of fans of the Star Wars franchise has only grown thanks to the failure of Star Wars projects like The Acolyte. But what many fail to understand is the failure of said projects and their criticism is rooted in a genuine concern for the legacy and storytelling that George Lucas started.
From the above tweets, it is, but, clear that passionate fans are not against change or new narratives; rather, they seek a return to the captivating and vibrant storytelling that made Star Wars a cultural phenomenon in the first place.
The Star Wars franchise can be streamed on Disney+.
