When Amazon announced picking the series up for a fifth season, fans believed that the show was going to run for another few seasons. While some were skeptical, others were excited about the prospect of seeing more of the grossly violent show. However, these fans were disappointed with Kripke’s latest announcement.

Fans have now got a response from one of the cast members of the immensely popular series, Jack Quaid. The young actor, who plays Hughie in the show, took to Instagram to confirm the news and share his thoughts on the same. Quaid shared that this planned ending after Season 5 was the one Kripke had always intended.

Quaid was sure that Kripke and the amazing writers would deliver an incredible finale in the fifth season. He noted that only a few shows were fortunate enough to have an ending of their own terms in television. However, for now, he wanted all fans to buckle up for an exciting fourth season. He shared via Instagram:

Yes @theboystv will be ending with Season 5, but don’t worry! This has been the plan for a long time. This will be the ending our show-runner intended. I trust @erickripke1 and our amazing writers to deliver an incredible finale. In TV it’s such a rare gift to be able to go out on your own terms, so I’m immensely excited to see what season 5 has in store.
I’d like to thank the fans who got us this far. We truly couldn’t have done this without you. You’re all INCREDIBLE truly. In the meantime, Season 4 premieres in 2 days, so buckle the f**k up.

During an interview with EW, Kripke shared that the five-season plan was a “stupid screenwriter thing” about three and five being magical numbers for writing. Earlier, Kripke revealed to ScreenRant that he had already convened the writers room for Season 5. He hinted that the finale season is still “very raw” and that it will see some “crazy sh*ts”.

Eric Kripke got to flesh out the story of the Winchester brothers for the first five seasons of The CW’s Supernatural. Kripke revealed exactly what led him to exit the series when appearing on Sera Gamble’s Writer Q&A video series. Gamble took over from Kripke for the next two seasons before handing over the showrunning duties to Jeremy Carver.

He shared with Gamble that creating 22 episodes per season for a show like Supernatural was exhausting. However, Kripke shared that he didn’t leave the show just for that reason. He was concerned when the creatives got sloppier by Season 5. He shared that while the show didn’t suffer badly in its fifth season, it was an indication for him to leave the show. He shared:

The creative never suffered through the first four years. And I’m not saying it suffered in season 5 but for the first time, I felt weirdly sloppier than I was in the past. That scared me. I felt a real responsibility for it to be as great as I could make it for as long as I could make it.

When Kripke told Warner Bros. that he was done with the show, they decided to continue the show without him. It was Kripke who suggested Gamble for the role of the new showrunner of the Jensen Ackles-led show.

The Boys Season 4 will premiere on Prime Video on June 13. Supernatural is now available for streaming on Netflix.
