Ryan Bingham, a country legend in his own right, plays the character of a cowboy named Walker in the series. Sheridan cast him after finding he had experience in rodeo and wrote the character to include him in the story. Unfortunately for Sheridan and Bingham, his character hasn’t been the best addition to the story.

Ryan Bingham’s Walker in Yellowstone Is Poorly Written and Executed

Taylor Sheridan met Ryan Bingham to get him to write a song for his directorial debut, Wind River. Unfortunately, things didn’t pan out at the time, but he reached out to the singer-songwriter once more, when he started working on Yellowstone. It was then that he found out Bingham’s expertise is not just music, but also rodeo. He wrote a character specifically for him – a cowboy in the Yellowstone ranch named Walker. While it looked like a perfect fit, things were far from it.

Many fans of the show found the character of Ryan too distracting. His dialogue delivery, his acting, nothing seemed right, and people started to voice out their concerns regarding this. A Reddit user who goes by u/DevastatingCuntQuake, posted on the subreddit r/YellowstonePN: I cannot stand Walker. They further added:

It’s not his singing that gets me, it’s the actor and his cringey ass lines that feel like an ice pick in my skull. Whatever he said to that guy before cutting his brand off made me vomit in four languages. I just cannot stand his fucking personality it constantly seems like he’s trying to act tough instead of being tough. I know the actor is an actual singer IRL, and I think he should stick to that.

The user later went on to add that they had nothing against Bingham, but rather how his character and the way he portrays it feels very much forced from the audience’s point of view. Fans also have a problem with how his character is written on the show, blaming Sheridan for doing a poor job on that front.

Yellowstone Fans Blame Taylor Sheridan For Writing In The Character of Walker

Many other fans joined in on the subreddit to express their displeasure with the character of Ryan. They also picked on how Taylor Sheridan had written the character of Walker, as they think the problem is not with the actor but how his character is written.
