Suicide Squad: KTJL has been consistently making headlines since its release for not-so-pleasant reasons. It’s been a mixed bag for players and critics alike, but one undeniable fact about it is the passion and hard work of various teams that contributed to the game—especially the voice actors.
In an exclusive interview with FandomWire, JP Karliak, the voice behind Joker in the upcoming KTJL DLC, revealed some surprising things about his experience working on the project.
Suicide Squad DLC Joker JP Karliak Didn’t Know the Cast Till Much Later
When asked about his recording experience, Karliak shared that he was completely alone in the recording booth:
I didn’t even know exactly who else was in the game until they announced it, after which I was like, “oh that’s cool, what a really solid cast.”
Despite not knowing the full cast lineup, Karliak was excited about the project, particularly about how his portrayal would fit into the game’s universe. He mentioned:
It was just me recording with a few folks in London and then a few in LA and we had a great time making those tweaks as we went and figuring out where we want this Joker to sit.
The Joker, one of the most iconic villains in comic book history, has been portrayed by various actors over the years, each bringing their own interpretation to the character. Karliak will undoubtedly have a fresh take on the iconic villain.
When asked about the version of character he’d be portraying, Karliak said:
In the same way that the Gotham City that we are used to is very dark and feels like Batman’s city, the version of Gotham that this guy hails from is very much the Joker’s. It is a very looney version of the world we know.
An interesting tidbit the voice actor brought up was that he hasn’t heard much dialogue between his character and others. So, when players experience these interactions in the game, he’ll be hearing them for the first time along with everyone else.
The Upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Promises New Content
Despite the excitement surrounding the game, it has received mixed reviews from both players and critics due to its various issues. Nonetheless, the game has plenty of potential to rise above where it’s at right now.
The DLC could prove just that, and we’ve got less than a week to see it for ourselves. On March 28 of this year, you’ll be able to hear Karliak’s rendition of the timeless villain in-game yourself.
Along with adding a playable version of the Clown Prince of Crime, the DLC will introduce new boss fights, enemy variants, an environment, and two new episodes with new activities to do.
