During one such interview, the actor had even presented with one condition for his return.

Recalling the actor’s particular desire as well as his dissatisfaction with his character’s depiction in Taika Waititi’s sequels, fans voiced their opinion on the same. Chris Hemsworth Needs A Drastically Different Tone for His Return as Thor
Following Chris Hemsworth’s MCU debut as the majestic and powerful God of Thunder, Thor, his character underwent a complete tonal transformation once Taika Waititi took over Thor: Ragnarok. From there onwards the acclaimed director made humor the central characteristic of Thor. Taking away the seriousness and divinity from Thor, Waititi turned the character comic.
Initially, the comedic version of Thor had garnered an overwhelmingly positive response. Thus, Taika Waititi doubled down on the humor for the sequel, Thor: Love and Thunder. Unfortunately, this time, the movie met with a more divisive reception from critics and fans. Even Chris Hemsworth expressed his dissatisfaction with the representation, during his appearance on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast.
You look at Thor 1 and 2, they were quite similar. Ragnarok and Love and Thunder are similar… I’ve said this before but when it becomes too familiar, I think there’s a risk in getting lazy then because I know what I’m doing. I don’t know if I’m even invited back, but if I was, I think it would have to be a drastically different version in tone, everything, just for my own sanity… [laughs] Thor lost his mind that last one. He’s got to figure it out now.
Addressing the topic of Thor’s future, Chris Hemsworth thus clarified his demand for a drastically different tone. Unwilling to play a comedic version of Thor, Hemsworth stated that if only his character is dealt with seriousness, he shall return.
Fulfilling Chris Hemsworth’s Demands Might Lead to Implications for Taika Waititi
Now, as Marvel is reportedly planning on releasing Thor 5, marking the end of Chris Hemsworth’s run as the mighty God of Thunder, the actor’s comments from 2022 are resurfacing. As Hemsworth’s remarks hit social media, fans immediately took a stand and began supporting the actor’s demand. Justifying how Hemsworth is right, fans expressed a similar desire.
Arguing that honoring the essence of Thor, as interpreted by Chris Hemsworth, should take precedence, fans rallied behind the actor. This seemingly signals a significant rift awaiting the actor and the creative direction helmed by Taika Waititi. Considering fans’ support for Hemsworth, if Marvel plans to move with the actor’s demands, it might create unique challenges for the director.
