Content Warning was released on April 1, 2024, as part of Landfall’s tradition of releasing a game on April Fool’s Day. The game managed to attract the attention of a large fan base by climbing to the top of the Steam charts. The studio did not have great expectations that this survival horror game would become a big trend, but its rapid success made it one of the most successful indie games of this year.

Content Warning received its first major update a while back, bringing a ton of features and fixes, which has further increased fan satisfaction with it. Moreover, there will be some potential collaborations on the studio’s calendar, which may be something that will make the title even more popular than it is now.

Hanna Fogelberg shed light on the unknowns about Content Warning.

We recently spoke with Hanna Fogelberg, the head of communications at Landfall, who shed light on the unknowns about the newest indie co-op. Fogelberg talked about many topics, from the game’s early development period to the possibility of a console release, and perhaps the most notable of these was future collaborations.

In our interview with head of comms at Landfall Studios, Hanna Fogelberg, we asked about Content Warning‘s future plans and whether the title was open to collaboration or other opportunities, and got an answer that would excite fans. She says there are many games and studios they admire and would love to collaborate with. She sparked even more curiosity by saying that maybe something was going on in the background.

That’s a hard question, there are a lot of games and studios we admire and would love to collaborate with – we might have something on the backburner doing just that, who knows…

After Fogelberg hinted at a possible collaboration, we were left wondering with whom or what these collaborations would be. Unfortunately, there are no official details at the moment, but something can be obtained by guessing here.

It could make sense for Content Warning to crossover with Phasmophobia, another game in the horror genre. For those unfamiliar, this title, released by Kinetic Games in 2020, became one of the most popular indie games.

Another option here could be Resident Evil. Capcom’s blockbuster franchise has been part of numerous collaborations and has garnered the admiration of fans. Although this is unlikely, it could be a surprise collaboration.

Content Warning is Still Doing Pretty Well in the Steam Charts

The survival horror game reached an all-time peak with 204K players on its second day.

Landfall’s Content Warning managed to attract fans’ attention immediately after its splashy launch on April 1. According to SteamDB data, the survival horror game reached an all-time peak with 204K players on its second day.

Even though the game gradually lost its popularity after the excitement of the first days, it’s still played by a larger audience. Well, the game currently has 17K concurrent players, which also marks a 24-hour peak. Landfall will also seemingly not be milking this game.

Fogelberg states that the game was claimed by a total of 6.6 million players on the first day it was released for free. Moreover, the game further consolidated its success by selling 1.5 million copies, despite the price tag being applied a day later.
